I would think you would need to file a route plan and have an escort in front and back.

I suggest taking left turns at much reduced speeds. OTOH, drop it into second and stand on it for right turns.

Man crushed to death by robot in South Korea

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-67354709
A man has been crushed to death by a robot in South Korea after it failed to differentiate him from the boxes of food it was handling, reports say.

The incident occurred when the man, a robotics company employee in his 40s, was inspecting the robot.

The robotic arm, confusing the man for a box of vegetables, grabbed him and pushed his body against the conveyer belt, crushing his face and chest, South Korean news agency Yonhap said.

He was sent to hospital but later died. :snippity:

Back when I was working in robotics the robots were separated from humans by gated fencing. Any attempt to get past the fences would disable the robots.

Of course a determined human can defeat most protective measures.

the article speaks of a robotics company employee so gates may have been moved and disabled in maintenance mode.

The only serious accident that I witnessed in a factory (many years ago) followed an official safety review which identified that a hydraulic press needed an extra safety gate. The guy who operated the press was the most safety conscious worker in the team – y'know, the guy who'd quietly but firmly tell youngsters to stop messing around or cutting corners – and he was injured when his arm caught in the moving press while as interlocks had to be modified for the new gate.

Unusual temporary situations can be the most dangerous.

This sounds like a classic intersection of FAFO and the Darwin Award. It's unfortunate the man was killed, but his overconfidence killed him before he bypassed the safeties.

We do...

An Interesting evolutionary trait they have...

A cat comes to your house and says: I live here now

Then the humans there buy food litter for it...

The article doesn't say anything about him bypassing safeties. He was inspecting the machine ahead of a scheduled test when it malfunctioned. Or is there something I'm missing?
