I knew there would be a 100% chance you would rip it to shreds!
Thanks Slarti!

To me, the best part about being a scientist is finding out that you are wrong - it's when you learn something - and a true scientist is someone who bends over backwards to prove that their own ideas are wrong. You just demonstrated some of the most important traits of a scientific mindset in my book - not being afraid to be wrong, acknowledging your mistake, learning from it, and enjoying it.
I totally agree, and it's very similar to the Courage to be Wrong speech I give to my apprentices. My double E from MI State 79 aged out a long time ago, but I've done well as a telecom system integrator. However, the lessons I've learned can apply to any career.Slarti the White wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 4:16 pm

You may have gotten the problem a little messed up, but by my standards you aced the test!
p.s. Technically speaking, the probability that I would rip it to shreds was only 1 - epsilon, where epsilon is very small (at least before I did so). A scientist always allows for the possibility of falsification.

Actually, vaccination rates increased by 15% last week. Those who just "didn't get around to it" have finally found time in their schedule. Some who were vaccine hesitant are no longer hesitant now that delta, delta+, lambda, and zeta are here.

From CNN (SS used because the graphic lead to a huge chart breakdown by state).
And every time I see it mentioned I am grateful my daughter was able to come home and get her vaccine. She's a teacher in Sao Paulo and not eligible for the vax in Brazil yet.RTH10260 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 2:58 amH/TLM K wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 1:31 amActually, vaccination rates increased by 15% last week. Covid Zeta - this one is new to me. Google tells me it's a Brazilian variant originating from the Rio de Janeiro region.

I have a BS ('91) and MS ('95) from Michigan State - didn't know you were a fellow Spartan! Did you ever have a class from Professor Dubes or Professor Forsyth in the CS department? (old fambly friend and my best friend's dad respectively) [snip]
Amen to that. Bolsonaro has made a mess of Brasil.sugar magnolia wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 5:48 am

Mississippi has one of the lowest COVID-19 vaccination rates in the nation. As of Friday, the state Health Department said 35% of Mississippi residents were fully vaccinated, compared to 50% nationally.

Florida is requesting hundreds of ventilators from the federal government after a surge in COVID-19 across the state, according to a Department of Health and Human Services planning document obtained by ABC News affiliate Local 10.
The request was made on Friday for 300 ventilators “to replace expended state stores,” the document said.
It was not clear how the ventilators would be allocated but they were expected to arrive in the state on Monday, according to the outlet.
Hubs and I watch BTC's pod casts on YouTube. He seems sane. Not overly hyperbolic, like others I've seen.RVInit wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 2:28 pm I'm not familiar with this source, might have to take it with a grain of salt. I will try to find out more. You don't "expend" ventilators you fuckwits. You just RUN OUT because your evil, brainless monster in charge of things doesn't give a flying fuck about anything but power.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 2:36 pm

Yep. It's really new, so it doesn't have an official Greek letter yet.RTH10260 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 2:58 amH/TLM K wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 1:31 amActually, vaccination rates increased by 15% last week.
