It wasn't DeSantis that said it, it was SC Governor McMaster. And it was Democrats he wanted to hunt, not minorities. It's been tagged a racially tinged dog whistle, but I think it is more than just tinged. FWIW.

No, it was South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster:
At a Republican Party event on Saturday, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster harked back to a phrase he’d used before when referring to Democrats.
