Ive been hearing that bull from various people for over 60 years. Nothing new, or surprising.

I know that, in their heart of hearts, they believe that is true, but I've never, personally, heard anyone actually say it.

Me either, but I have often heard that the US Constitution was divinely inspired, directly from God. Out loud, and not just from Mormons. Well, more than once at least.

Well, I have heard it from several different people, in person, who swore it up and down till they were blue in the face.

The first place I remember hearing it was from a youth program guy at the Southern Baptist church my best friend went to and was trying to recruit me for their recreational league volleyball team. That was the only reason I went along, but they wouldn't let me play unless I joined the church, so I stopped going.

That was sometime around 1965 or so, but I have heard it several times since.

Mostly it comes up when I say something rash like 'You know Jesus would have had brown skin like other Palestinians", and their head explodes.

That was always one of my favorite "explanations" that I heard out of birthers for something that happened, because it was just SO incredibly stupid. It was supposed to be a "perfect" way to kill someone because the dart would be made of ice and just melt away after doing it's dirty deed, leaving no trace behind.

Well, except for the entrance wound, perhaps? None of the birthers ever mentioned what happened to that. Maybe the ice of the dart was just so cold that it froze the skin back together before melting away. I dunno, trying to think that stupid hurts my head.

My tabletop gaming group jokes about that one all the time. Mostly because the guy who used to switch off DMing with me is married, his wife plays with us at the table, and he often has to be fair in ruling against her without favoritism. So whenver any of us arrive early to a gaming session and she's setting up the snack table, we all pretend that we're nervous until Frank comes down the stairs and proves he's still alive.
