If I saw that mugshot mixed in with the usual accused murderers, rapists, robbers, etc., I would assume he's one of the hard-core cases.

The Texas Senate voted Wednesday to begin the historic impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton on Sept. 5, and it approved rules that bar Paxton’s wife from voting due to a conflict of interest.

The State Senator wife of impeached TX AG Ken Paxton, who refused to recuse herself from his trial, will now be forced to listen to the evidence of how he accepted gifts benefiting his mistress, but won’t be allowed to vote to save her beloved husband.

I have a hard time picturing him with an alleged paramour, based on his um doughy, lipless physical presence. And wtf Mrs AG? Do you have no self respect at all? I wouldn’t be present for any of it. I suspect it’s about power for her, too.

If I'm not badly mistaken, she *has* to attend. Seems like I read that somewhere when the story first came out.Phoenix520 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 7:01 pm I have a hard time picturing him with an alleged paramour, based on his um doughy, lipless physical presence. https://www.rawstory.com/ken-paxton-imp ... 662283380/'Clear, compelling and decisive': The impeachment case against Texas' Ken Paxton just got help from an unlikely source
Harriet O’Neill, a Republican former justice on the Texas Supreme Court, has joined the team of lawyers who will be prosecuting suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton during his Senate impeachment trial.
O’Neill, who served 12 years on the state’s highest civil court before stepping down in 2010, is an accomplished attorney who also served as a state district judge and as a justice on the Houston-based 14th Court of Appeals. In 2002 and 2006, she was named the appellate justice of the year by the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists.
O’Neill said she was proud to join the legal team, which also includes prominent Houston lawyers Dick DeGuerin and Rusty Hardin, assembled by House impeachment managers to present the legal case for impeachment in a trial before the Texas Senate to begin Sept. 5.
“The facts in this case are clear, compelling and decisive, and I look forward to presenting them before the members of the Texas Senate,” she said in a statement.

Legendary Texas lawyers Dick DeGuerin and Rusty Hardin will serve as lead prosecutors for the state House in the Senate impeachment trial of suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton.
The two Houston-based defense attorneys, introduced at a Capitol news conference Thursday, are legal icons in their own right, having separately represented a litany of high-profile athletes, celebrities and politicians in criminal and civil investigations.
“They are outstanding lawyers and lions of the Texas trial bar,” said David Coale, a Dallas-based appellate lawyer and legal commentator. “This is the legislature saying, ‘This isn’t just some case, this is an unusual, historic case.’ And if you want to make some history, you get some history book-level lawyers.”

I can’t believe something is actually going to finally happen to Paxton. I’m so happy I could cry.

Been reading about those two attorneys for years.

I recall watching Rusty Hardin representing Roger Clemens in the House Oversight Committee hearing as Clemens' testified about/denied steroid use.
So fascinating watching all the Republicans backing Clemens--ignoring his obvious lies ("the steroids were for my wife, not me") and, duh, lambasting the Dems and the supposed destroyers of America's Game. Then, at some point after the hearing, they--both Rs and Ds--quietly contacted the DOJ and asked for an investigation for perjury. I believe he was convicted--but have a fuzzy idea that Hardin didn't represent him for that?
I thought Hardin was all ego and bluster, but, well, it was a situation that probably called for bluster. I don't like Clemens, so my memory may be tainted.
I grudgingly admit that the way MLB pursued the steroid users was unfair.

Hardin did represent Clemens, who was found not guilty on all counts.

Idle curiosity, and if this has already been mentioned I plead the fact that it's not yet 6am on a Monday for me as I type this: If Paxton does get removed from office, who becomes AGOTX? Is there a deputy position that takes over under State law, or does the Governor nominate someone fresh, or what?

tl;dr Paxton’s PAC just donated $3M to Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, who just happens to be presiding as judge over Paxton’s impeachment hearing in the TX Senate in a few weeks.

No wonder Ken Paxton pulled out of Mike Lindell's event. His troubles just keep piling up!
#BREAKING House investigators say Ken Paxton wired money to Nate Paul, shared a fake Uber account with Paul that Paxton used to secretly visit a woman he was having an affair with and made numerous other attempts to conceal his alleged misconduct.
