I don't think I've ever put up a poll thread before, so crossing my fingers that I do it right!

What do you think Juan Merchan will choose to do with our unfavorite felon? Select one option, but you can change your mind.

Curious to see what everyone thinks about Trump's possible sentence and why you think he may get a certain sentence. Let the fun begin!

I almost responded “no incarceration” “Who’s OSG?”

I believe he will get either incarceration or home detention. The degree to which he thumbed his nose at the justice system during this case alone I think merits a sentence that will actually get his attention. When I have heard judges give an explanation for sentencing, they normally give a list of different elements, the crime, how remorseful is the convict (I love using that word for Trump), and other considerations.

Trump has no remorse at all, continues to lie about this case, had to be put on a limited gag order because of possible threats to the jury and some of the witnesses, and this judge found him guilty of somewhere around 10 instances of contempt of court. I don't think a non incarceration sentence will get Trump's attention. And I think as long as he does not have an impactful "come to Jesus" moment, he will just continue to understand that he is immune* from prosecution of any kind.

*Oh, wait...

34 felonies is a lot. But if NY law says they’d all run concurrently (I don’t know the answer to that, but I’m assuming they prolly would), then I’m betting no incarceration.

* There are three prisons in Leavenworth, KS. FCI Leavenworth is a federal medium security prison managed by the federal Bureau of Prisons. The United States Disciplinary Barracks is a military prison managed by the DoD. The Joint Regional Correctional Facility is also a military prison managed by the DoD. The difference between the USDB and the JRCF is that the USDB houses military prisoners with sentences over ten years, while the JRCF houses those military prisoners with less than 10 year sentences. But unless Trump gets convicted by the feds, he’s not going to to Leavenworth.

That was a joke entry, I know Trump wasn't convicted in any federal court.

I’d oppose bail on the grounds that he is a flight risk.

he has very publicly stated that he will flee the country if not elected.

But I want to select three: No incarceration, I don’t know, and I don’t care.

I think the political reality is that Trump escapes incarceration.

I agree. Even if he’s sentenced to jail time, he’d likely die before he’s incarcerated.

For those that are expecting non incarceration, do any of you have any thoughts on what might be an expected sentence? I'm really curious as to what everyone thinks about what may happen in the sentencing.

To go along with the $450 million he owes and isn't going to pay to NY or the $5 million or so he owes to his sexual assault victim he's never going to pay or all the campaign stops he owes money to that he's never going to pay. Or his lawyers. Or all the victims of his failed businesses or all the contractors he hired that he's never or under paid. He probably owes somewhere close to a billion dollars to some entity or another.

What's another $15-20 million that will go uncollected?

Nothing of any significance is going to happen.
