It's called gaming, not gambling, as it is considered entertainment. Gaming is why there is no state income tax here in Nevada. I never got into it in all the years I've lived in Las Vegas. I like to tell my friends who play (and they rarely win) that they are still paying taxes, it's just a funner way for them to do it.

Just so you know, slot machines are NOT random (computer nerds need not protest that computers don't produce random numbers - we are talking at a higher level than that).

When Crown Casino opened in Melbourne, a tourist hit the big jackpot on one of the big payout machines in the FIRST WEEK. The casino wouldn't payout because the machine "wasn't supposed to" payout that soon - its obviously broken and our rules don't let us payout on broken machines.

The court case went on for years, but I can't remember how it turned out. But was incredibly disengenious.

If a machine is programmed to not payout until some minimum number of plays have occured, then those 'players' at the start are being defrauded, not 'gaming'.

Edit: Crown has been plagued with illegal pokie machine tampering from the beginning of its operations and has been fined millions and almost lost its license.
