At first, he wouldn’t say it was him. Then he eventually acknowledged it

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it.

Just a friendly reminder: Donald Trump thinks your son was a “loser and sucker”

Give her a break. She's just cleaning up after servicing Gaetz and wanted one more delicious whiff.

Suranis wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:46 pm The response background looked like an AI version of a Kitchen. So I would guess it was against a green-screen or similar.

I think the idea of a "response" is rather silly anyway.
I agree. I don't see why the opposition party is entitled to a formal response, that is automatically broadcast.

The Constitution says POTUS must, from time to time, report to Congress on the state of the union. It says nothing about the oppo party.

Made me curious.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Response_ ... on_address
The practice began in 1966 when Republican Sen. Everett Dirksen (Illinois) and Rep. Gerald Ford (Michigan) appeared on TV to offer a response to the address by Democratic President Lyndon Johnson.[1] The opposition party's response has varied in format, ranging from a prerecorded 45-minute TV program in 1970[2] to a call-in show in 1972 where a panel of congressmen answered unrehearsed questions from callers.[1] Since the late 1980s, it usually has been a televised speech given soon after the State of the Union address.[1]

MN-Skeptic wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:35 pm I can't tell you how much I hate the term housewife. No woman is married to a house. I started working in the tax department of a Big 8 accounting firm in Jan 1975 right out of college and I was taught to use the term homemaker. 49 years ago! That I can live with. I fully endorse women (or men) opting to be a stay-at-home parent and/or homemaker if that's their choice. That's exactly what Women's Lib is all about. Being able to do what you want to do and not be forced to comply with anyone else's preconceived ideas of what you should do. But the term is HOMEMAKER.

Also, the same 'housewife' word was the original derivation of 'hussy'. So whenever I see it, I hear it in the Shakespearean 'hussif' pronunciation and shudder.
But the sunshine aye shall light the sky,
As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

Dig the Pete cameo. Was reading the transportation twitter and impressed by what's going on there.

No matter how old Biden is, he has put in place a very competent and even accomplished administration without much scandal or drama (if any). Refreshing.

An interesting deconstruction of one of Sen. Britt's breathlessly indignant SOTU response stories.

Oh, the ebb and flow of un/fashionable words and meanings!

The "hus" in "husband" is also "house", coming from Old Norse and into Old English. Roughly "house boss" :o

 should that word go too?

Did she know she was lying, or did she just re-echo something she had heard in the right wing echo chamber without checking? I mean, was this a commonly told story by conservatives?

She said the woman shared it with her, like it was personal.
