Buildings are dangerous in Hawaii

For hours, a loud recording told people to leave a high rise condo immediately.

Things are quiet again. I wonder if it's another problem with water seeping into the building. Guess I'll hear about later today.

Back in the stone age I lived on the 16th floor of the Monte Vista on the corner of Lili’uokalani Ave and Ala Wai. I had no choice in the matter - that’s where the Coast Guard put me.

I had a beautiful view of Diamond Head. But I used to lay awake at night worried about fire. I hated being up that high.
