Well, I didn’t have any fancy English education, so my knowledge is rather limited. Around these here parts, however, Chamberlain is known as a Hitler toadie who kowtowed to his every whim. I get that that may not be accurate, but  . The mtg comparison is solely to do with Putin appeasement.

I've read a history that suggests that Chamberlain was buying time to put to get England's wartime manufacturing apparatus together. Basically Germany had been pumping up its war construction for a while, whereas England was way behind both in industrial capacity and in the quality of its Fighters and weapons.

To me the fact that Chamberlain was willing to GO all in in the later crises over the Polish city of Danzig shows that he was not as naive as all that. Danzig, by the way was the First stage in the Nazi plans for demanding more and more of Poland till they march in, similar to what happened with Czechoslovakia. They were floored when the Polish refused their "reasonable request of just a city" and were convinced that Chamberlain would back down just like last time. He didn't.

And people forget that Churchill installed Chamberlain in his war cabinet after Churchill took over. So he obviously had gifts.

Churchill, by the way, is someone who I liked less and less the more I read about him.

Churchill was flawed

Against the explicit directions of the Australian Government…
He tried to get redirect the Australian 7th Infantry Division returning to Australia from the Middle East to Burma… both divisions were not combat loaded on their ships and if they could have been landed given Japanese air and sea interdiction they couldn’t have been combat ready before contact with the Japanese Army.

Arrogant Authoritarian egotistical

Curtin to me was a decent bloke and fairly good war time prime minister.
