The View From Maybelot

*sigh*

We were supposed to close today yesterday, but the lawyer had something come up. Closing is now scheduled for Monday.

The current owners aren’t scheduled to close on their new place until the fourth, so they probably can’t be out by then anyway. Couple of days is no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

So we’ll spend another weekend at the cabin. It’s 54 degrees - beautiful weather for a fire pit. These aren’t bad problems to have.

Lovely photo. I am with you in your closing mini-angst. The closing on my place in Florida was delayed for four months, whilst the seller found a place to buy in Michigan, organized an FDA load, and got herself, her three adult special needs children, and (most of) the completely worthless furniture she decided to take with her into a U-haul, on the road. Which would not have happened at all but for the grace of the real estate agent who got all that done for no fee from either of us. Now that is a good soul. Super Agent, Jeannette Jones, I honor you!

We closed on Maybelot today. This is the view *of* Maybelot from a scenic overlook further up the mountain. The previous owners will be out in another week.

*sigh*

It may be fall before we get to move in. We’ve already closed. We own it. It’s insured, and the power has been transferred into our name.

But the sellers aren’t out yet. They couldn’t close on their new place until we closed. They were supposed to close on their new place yesterday, but the owners of that property inserted all these unreasonable conditions at the last minute, so our previous owners, understandably, backed out.

So now our previous owners are having to start the house search all over again. I feel *really* bad for them. I would hate to be in their shoes.

We haven’t yet discussed with them the terms of their renting back. We’ll work something out.

May your roof never fall in
And those beneath it never fall out.

Congratulations or Comhghairdeas as they say where I hail from.
What a great property.

Patience Grasshopper, all good things come in their own good time. Also too, you have all of us beaming positive energy your way! The fall will likely be exceptionally beautiful :-D

It’s just outside of Luray, Virginia, in the “Ridge and Valley” section of the Appalachians.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are in the distance; our view is actually of Shenandoah National Park.

Lovely part of the country. We've been there twice in the last few years.
