The quills on the adult porcupines are impressive! Even the quills on the young ones are intimidating.

The one time I saw a porcupine in the wild I was too busy hanging onto a leashed 95 pound dog who wanted to get up close and personal with it to really look at it. It was bigger than I expected and I kept chanting to myself: $500 vet bill. $500 vet bill.
Avatar was a photo I took by Killary Fjord in 2005. Killary Fjord is in Northern Connemara, Ireland.

African porcupines are bigger than American, with much thicker quills.

I managed the wrestle him away. A $500 vet bill was quite motivating. It would probably be $750 or more these days.

:rotflmao: I would say he could have used a long pole, but his arms were just as long as any pole a human rope walker would use. And he seemed to be using them pretty effectively.

He (she) has one thing more to assist that we humans no longer have: monkeys can grip with their toes to.

After watching the video pj posted of the gibbon, I'm now getting some gibbon videos coming up as recommended on my YouTube account. I watch the BOS orangutan videos, so it's outside my area of interest anyway.

I wrote a paragraph and then deleted because I do have thoughts about this gibbons situation that doesn't exactly fit this thread. But I thought it was interesting and thought some of you might enjoy seeing this.

I find it hard to digest the “feistiest penguin in the world” description.
