Ted? That movie was made by the inept Ron Maxwell, Southern apologist and low-mediocre movie director. Turner only provided the money.
Not so good sir!!! He also was an "actor" in it, managing to get a speaking part with Robert Duvall
Just as lame as everyone else in it. Jeff Daniels, C. Thomas Howell and Kevin Conway must have been between contracts and needed the money. That script sucked stupid sideways.
Did anyone watch the review, is't a wee bit long for the short attention span internet at 44 minutes or so, but Andy makes some pretty good points.

I did, and I had the exact same opinion when I had originally finished the film way back when.

We had carcicles like that just this year in the ice storm last February. Not nearly as thick, but it took hours to get a car free with hot water.
Augsperger Mtn Dec 2014 - along the Columbia River. Though certainly not as cold as Yakutsk, it was cold enough for me. The wind blows almost constantly in the river gorge, and carries a lot of moisture that forms sideways icicles on the towers called hoar ice. More commonly found on ships in the arctic, we see it often here. First job is just to get to the site without breaking an axel. Then we have to break the ice free with hammers so we can ascend. Then we have to break the ice free from the dish with heaters and hammers. Nothin but a partay.

I’ve been to Fairbanks, and Appalachia in the winter is no kidding, but far and away the coldest I’ve ever been was in NYC one February night, walking from the closest parking we could find up this...canyon...of a street, tall buildings in either side, wind blowing us every backwards every few minutes, on our way to the Lone Star Cafe.

You never told us you had such a COOL job!
Nyuk nyuk nyuk
Winter time is one of profit periods. Kind of like hurricane and tornado season in the SE, ice cold weather tears stuff up, and people want it fixed. They don't seem to care how much it costs, how many people we throw at it, or how much equipment we need to bring. Just mobilize and get it done.
I enjoyed that very much, RTH! It also reminded me somewhat of S. Chile and the cabins there. Backpackers and campers have to be cautious of poking around and staying in abandoned places like that because of Hanta Virus!

Remember, BLM has not approved this project. They are currently taking public comments. They are not to blame here, just getting feedback from the public.
1) Leave a comment with the Bureau of Land Management before August 30th (click the green 'Participate Now' button to leave comment) :
Thank you all so so much. If you love history, the outdoors, and Cerro Gordo, now is the time to walk the walk. We only have until the end of August to submit public comments to the BLM on K2's proposal, so let's get them in today!

I recently dug out an old monitor I wasn't using any longer, so I could use it to watch stuff while working on my main monitor. And for some reason I find train/subway cab videos nice and relaxing to have running in the background. Major props to CTA for doing an entire series with all of their lines
