Donald Trump announced on Saturday morning that he would be arrested on Tuesday, and the nation has been agog at the prospect of the Leftist establishment crossing the rubicon of arresting its principal opponent on flimsy charges and demonstrating before the entire world that the American republic is now the American banana republic, in which foes of the regime can expect the full weight of corrupt government authority pushing back against them for daring to dissent.

That’s about all that has come to light, as the relevant authorities are being quite closemouthed about this whole thing. Insider says that “a source with knowledge of the investigation” told them on Saturday night “there is one more witness.” The indictment is apparently not a certainty until this witness testifies.

But who is this witness? The Insider’s source wouldn’t say, and so all that we’re told is that “a separate source, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, told Insider that the witness is not Allen Weisselberg, Trump’s former CFO, who is serving a five-month sentence for admittedly masterminding a payroll tax-dodge scheme at the Trump Organization.”

This may have changed but the corrupt Biden family is still criminally corrupt.

Donald Trump is bracing for his most legally perilous week since he left the White House, with the Manhattan district attorney likely to bring criminal charges against him over his role in paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels, as he huddled this weekend to strategize his legal and political responses.

The former US president has posted in all-caps on his Truth Social platform that he expected to be “ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK” and called for his supporters to engage in protests – an ominous echo of his tweets urging protests in the lead-up to the January 6 US Capitol attack.

Trump’s post was nothing more than guesswork about when Alvin Bragg might bring charges, sources close to Trump said, after he saw media reporting that the district attorney’s office had contacted the US secret service about security in the event of an indictment.

The grand jury in New York hearing evidence in the resurrected 2016 hush money case is now expected to hear from one more witness on Monday, making it unlikely that an arrest would come the following day because it could take additional hours to draft charging papers.

That witness is reportedly Robert J Costello who is appearing at the request of Trump’s legal team. Costello was once a legal adviser to former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen but the two have since fallen out. Costello’s testimony is likely to be aimed at undermining Cohen’s.

But the frenzied posts from Trump reflected his deep panic and anxiety over the imminence and likelihood of criminal charges, the sources said, not least because he is powerless to stop the district attorney’s office from moving forward with a case that will take the US into new legal territory as Trump revs up his 2024 campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

Assuming that TFG is indicted in the near future (perhaps tomorrow), how do you think the MAGA crowd will react?

Of course, there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Twitter will explode with outraged tweets.

But will they really try to DO something?

Of course, the OSG will rant about the corruption and the injustice of his indictment. He will call for his supporters to to protest. Will he completely lose it and ask for violence more explicitly?

How many times will we hear the phrase "2nd Amendment Remedy" in the coming weeks?

Will his supporters turn out in droves to engage in that violence, or will his riots draw even smaller crowds than his rallies? I'm guessing that the number of J6 rioters who have been charged and convicted will have a dampening effect on the zeal of his supporters to attempt a repeat.

Certainly, the more crazy and violent of his supporters will try to mount another insurrection, but few will show up.

There will be lots of people carrying signs and shouting for the TV cameras.

There will be much outrage on right-wing tv and radio stations. Even Fox News, which has distanced itself somewhat from Trump, will report that the Republic has been destroyed. This is especially true of the opinion hosts, Hannity, Carlson and Ingraham.

I suspect that there will be small cadres of true believers who will resort to violence, but I think (and hope) that the violence will be minimal, reflecting his diminished standing on the public stage.
