For months, Doocy has sparred with Comer over the Biden investigations, pressing him to present facts and evidence that support the allegations against the president and his son, Hunter. On Thursday, they faced off again, this time regarding IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley’s claim that he was asked to stop pursuing an investigation that could’ve led up to President Biden.

Doocy invoked Comer’s description of the Bidens as a “crime family” as he told the congressman, “Make it easy for us: what was the crime?”

“The crime is that you are trading policy for money,” Comer answered, so Doocy asked, “Which policy?”

“We’re going to get into that,” Comer said. “I mean, look, Joe Biden has, on day one, changed our energy policy in America that put China first and America last. What’s happening: Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, is digging back into former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment as he looks to combat the GOP’s current investigation into President Joe Biden.

Details: Raskin sent a letter Thursday to Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) noting that, as part of the investigation leading up to Trump’s first impeachment, Congress received a record that "directly contradicts the allegations in the Form FD-1023.”

That record was turned over to the House Intelligence Committee by former Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas and released by Raskin on Thursday. It appears to include questions from Parnas and answers from Ukrainian executive Mykola Zlochevsky about Hunter Biden’s work for Ukrainian energy company Burisma. Raskin, in his letter, notes that Parnas passed his questions through Vitaly Pruss, a mutual acquaintance of Giuliani and Zlochevsky, and that metadata on the document confirms it was created by Pruss.

Why it matters: Republicans have pointed to Zlochevsky as the Ukrainian executive referenced in an FBI document, known as an FD-1023, who told the bureau’s confidential source that Biden and his son Hunter Biden had accepted a bribe.

But Zlochevsky, as part of the record released by Raskin on Thursday, was asked about any contacts he had with then-Vice President Joe Biden or his office between 2013 and 2019, and if Hunter Biden facilitated those contacts. Instead, he answers that “no one from Burisma ever had any contacts” with Joe Biden or those working for him while Hunter Biden was on the board.

He also answers “no” to a question about if Joe Biden or his staff helped him or his company, and that Burisma did not approve or ask Hunter Biden to conduct meetings he had with the State Department in 2015. (POLITICO has not independently verified the information in the Parnas record.)

GOP response: Comer, in a statement, accused Raskin of "again intentionally lying about the FBI's Biden bribery probe.”

House GOP Oversight Committee Chairman Jim Comer‘s alleged FBI “whistleblower,” who he claimed just days ago was a “very credible witness on Biden family corruption,” despite having been missing for months, was just indicted on charges including “arms trafficking,” “Iranian sanctions violations,” and “conspir[ing] with others in an effort to act within the United States to advance the interests of the People’s Republic of China (China),” according to the U.S. Dept of Justice.

He is currently on the run, DOJ says.

“According to court documents, Gal Luft, 57, is charged in an eight-count indictment with offenses related to willfully failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), arms trafficking, Iranian sanctions violations and making false statements to federal agents,” a DOJ press release states. “Luft was arrested on Feb. 17 in the Republic of Cyprus based on the charges in the indictment. Luft subsequently fled after being released on bail while extradition proceedings were pending and remains a fugitive.”

Some, including NBC News senior reporter Ben Collins are characterizing Luft with being charged as a “Chinese spy.”

“The ‘missing’ Hunter Biden witness the GOP was promising for a while there was just charged by the DOJ with being a Chinese spy,” Collins tweeted.

On Friday, Chairman Comer (photo) tweeted out a clip of his appearance on Newsmax, and wrote: “Gal Luft, a very credible witness on Biden family corruption, provided incriminating evidence to six officials from the FBI and the DOJ in a meeting in Brussels in March 2019. We have no reason to believe the FBI & DOJ acted on this info. Americans deserve answers.”

The cast of Morning Joe could barely contain their laughter as they mocked Congressman James Comer (R-KY) over the reversal of fortune about the whistleblower he promised would expose the Biden family’s criminal corruption.

An unsealed indictment shows that Gal Luft, a dual Israeli-U.S. citizen and head of the Analysis of Global Security think tank, was charged with acting as a Chinese agent. Luft also faces charges stemming from his alleged attempts to broker arms deals and the illegal sale of Iranian oil.

Luft was arrested in Cyprus earlier this year but is currently a fugitive after skipping bail while awaiting extradition to the United States. This comes after Comer spent months touting the House Oversight Committee’s informant on President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden, just for the whistleblower to go MIA.

Since Comer complained about his critics who’ve made fun of him on MSNBC in the past, Mika Brzezinski commented on “the stupidity” as Willie Geist recapped all of this for Morning Joe.

“I mean, seriously. How could we have doubted this guy?” Joe Scarborough said with obvious sarcasm. That’s when Brzezinski came up with a tongue-in-cheek name for the congressman: “Comer Simpson.”
