For someone that wants everyone to listen to him, he sure spends a lot of effort in trying to ensure people don't hear what he is saying.

carried over from the "former guy thread"
some lawyer wrote:Prior to commencing this litigation, President Trump and his counsel confronted
Defendants with their wrongdoing; however, they brazenly refused to recognize President
Trump’s copyright and contractual rights. Instead, they proffered various flawed and irrelevant
justifications which are unavailing and devoid of any legal merit. Rather than cease their
infringement, or even account to President Trump, the Defendants have doubled down; in an
avaricious attempt to reap more benefits from their ongoing violation of President Trump’s
rights, Defendants have converted the audio not only into an audiobook but also into derivative
works, including a CD, paperback, and e-book—again, all at the expense of President Trump and
without accounting to him.

Yeah, you know, some people would say that's a silly lawsuit.

But the $49 million makes it more serious. He shoulda sued for $49 BILLION.

Then it would be a really serious lawsuit. :liar:

Because Woodward just wanted to bask in his presence and enjoy his company by listening to him talk and talk and talk and...

Yes. While I am a lawyer, this is not my area of the law. That being said, this suit appears to have far more merit than many of the suits filed by Trump over the last few years. Cf. RICO complaint against Clinton, Comey, et al. Of course, I have not seen the defense’s position so I may be completely off base. Trump may not win, but at least his position is plausible on its face, not just crazy lawfare.

I would think that Simon & Schuster would have had their lawyers review any contracts involved before they published anything.

Yeah, that is exactly right. Neither Simon & Schuster nor Woodward are new at this game. They should be prepared for this. I'd be astonished if they are not.

Gee, a reporter interviews a public figure and makes money on the distribution of said interview. What a dastardly thing to do. :fingerwag: Shame on you Bob Woodward.

Yes, and it's too bad that Trump couldn't find some lawyers to look at the contract(s), if any. Imagine working in the White House and not being able to find any good lawyers, tsk tsk. :nope:

Let me guess: Trump didn't attach any contracts to his lawsuit.
