https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/24/politics ... index.htmlCNN wrote: A lawyer for former Vice President Mike Pence discovered about a dozen documents marked as classified at Pence’s Indiana home last week, and he has turned those classified records over to the FBI, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
The FBI and the Justice Department’s National Security Division have launched a review of the documents and how they ended up in Pence’s house in Indiana.
The classified documents were discovered at Pence’s new home in Carmel, Indiana, by a lawyer for Pence in the wake of the revelations about classified material discovered in President Joe Biden’s private office and residence, the sources said. The discovery comes after Pence has repeatedly said he did not have any classified documents in his possession.

This just goes to what I was saying weeks (months?) ago that I'll bet this is fairly common and has happened in the past. The difference is that DFO actually, actively, for his own ends, stole his. The great unwashed in this country will never get that.

And the others who have found documents in their possession, immediately contacted the appropriate authorities and returned them. It didn't take eighteen months, several stern letters, a subpoena, a federal warrant and an FBI search to retrieve them.
Nor did the others insist that the documents that were found were their personal property.
Nor did the others file frivolous lawsuit in federal court, trying to have the documents returned to them and to have the DOJ barred from investigating their possession of those documents.
Nor did the others continually post messages on social media, whining that they were being treated unfairly.

Why stop there? Biden reportedly had docs from his time in the Senate, raid all the Senators! And the Reps, as long as we are at it!Stephen Miller @StephenM wrote: Raid Biden.
Raid Obama.
Raid Bush.
Or show once again DOJ is rigged.

In the Mikey Pence thread, Noble PA makes a good comment: If Trump had some, and Biden had some, and now Pence had some, the chances are real good that a lot of people have some classified documents lying about or stuffed into boxes stashed in a basement or attic or closet.
That is the problem. Easy to acquire because these documents are passed around to the appropriate individuals like Hallowe'en candy. But likely more difficult to return or to destroy since the recipients are doing many things at once. Congress should be investigating those procedures.
Which leads me to ask, just what information is considered classified? I mean beyond the usual nuclear secrets and really, really sensitive stuff. Is it not possible that much classified information is classified for a singular purpose, and once that purpose has concluded, that there is really no need for it to be classified? Like maybe the flight schedule for AF I on July 15, 2015? Or perhaps the menu for the White House dinner when the President of Freedonia visited?

I think I remember complaints going back decades that the Government over-classified documents, making the system harder to maintain.

Tucker: It's entirely possible and likely that Pence was asked to to this by prosecutors who were trying to build a case against Trump. The point to show that not every federal official walks off the state secrets. So if that was the plan and we suspect it was, it backfired
