Fogbow

Yesterday was the 14th anniversary of Politijab opening up to the public (Brian and Justin created it the day before, but didn't tell us).

And thus was born the Fogbow community, before even the District Court of Bun-Dogs and the Circuit Court of Yahooville, before the Fogbow Galactic Grand Jury, before Ammon Eggs invaded Malheur, and long before we elected a birther to be president of this great land of ours.

I thought maybe we'd get 15 or 20 people to join. I didn't think anybody paid attention to the stupid birthers. Then after a year and a half, Brian and Justin got tired of them too, but not the rest of us, so someone had to open a new site. It was exciting back then!

Ah well, it's all in the past now. I was fourteen years younger, if I remember correctly. Good grief, I was only 56!

Anyway, a brief commemorative ceremony, ready?

Whew, that was quick.

I followed a link over to Politijab from RSOL Phil's blog. He was one of the few Birther's who would tolerate criticism and facts and not scrub comments. I joined on February 20th.

Anyway... Happy Birthday PJ/TFB.

Happy belated birthday everyone!

This really is a special place. Usually when I get involved with any kind of online community, I don't stay more than a couple of years before I move on, and it's pretty rre that I go back. My first stint here (which started at Politijab just shortly before the split) was *seven* years, and I'm now bit over a year into my second run

The point of all that being that this is a very special group. I'm really glad I came back.

Thank you, Foggy, for the time and energy you've spent building this community, the care you've put into nurturing and developing it, and your unique personality that infuses even some of the more serious topics with a sense of hope.

I'll accept my age as 14!

The only on line community I have been involved longer is the Democratic Underground. I joined on almost day 1 in 2001. I was quite active there for the first 5 years or so but after the Birther thing came along I drifted in that direction. I still post infrequently at DU.

In the 90's I posted some on newsgroups if you want to count that.

I'm gonna need to see Fogbow's long form birf certificate before I accept the age....

A Fogbow birthday means I had a recent Fogbow anniversary (Jan 23). I still consider myself a newb since I started later, on 23 January 2010. I did, however, just turn into a Fogobow teen. Be very afraid.

I came here by way of Doc Conspiracy, Patrick, and Tes (I think NBC as well and OFGS). I looked at my first post from around February that year. I said something simple. No replies, which was fine. I was way out of my league (Stern, Butterfly, Realist, Epictitus, RC, and others were all commenting).

I am slightly confused about the start date. 1969? What? There is no actual text for that post. NBC had a similar one for 1969.

And... I miss Tolland

I will look at it.
