She loves to make a legalistic argument on lying, but if she is a Christian as she claims, a legalistic argument means squat. You can speak actual facts but still be lying. It all comes down to the will and intent to deceive. It is not about what you say but how it is received, and how you intend it to be received.

I am not arguing Bob's explanation of a censure. And I think he may be onto something about using this as a grift.

It seems to me that this penalty has only emboldened her to do more of the same.

I believe the conclusion of the court that this sort of disciplinary matter has not arisen before in Colorado. I do think, that everyone took the coward's way out, or at least the path of least resistance because they already knew the court would rubber stamp the stipulated penalty.

As a member of the public, I feel that there is zero recourse for us when lawyers do bad, but not necessarily criminal, things. In my view, determinations like this do more harm to lawyers' reputations and public confidence. It also sets a new standard for permissible behavior.

I did not see that there was any sort of license suspension or probation. So, she can do this again and again with the only penalty being another censure, because we know where the Colorado State Bar stands. I conclude that recidivism is OK by bar standards because there was no provision in the stipulation prohibiting future bad behavior.

Presumably, for the next ethics complaint, the penalty will be more severe; the bar has not locked in a top rung.

From a radio listener this morning, and he makes a great point:

So in light of the Nashville school shooting, I did some research. They estimate it would cost $4B per year to have an armed guard at every school in the US.

We have allocated at least $75B to Ukraine. That is 18.75 yrs worth of school guards.

Online it said the shooter was going to another school but changed because of security on campus.

Metal detectors or gun laws would have not stopped this….armed security would have. Not sure why districts don’t put this into place. There are parents that are ex-cops or military that would take turns and provide for free.
