Some things are simply too fast, or too relentless to avoid. Like the North Carolina rain.

It still needs work, but I don't think you can mess it up, and it should be searchable and linkable and gluten free.

Have at it. :batting:

While it's nice to have positive feedback and you know I love you, I think this thread should be for reporting any problems, glitches, messups, and things I could do to improve things. Besides, my headbone is all swole up like a melon as it is.

You shouldn't have to remember your old password, you don't need to log in to read the board, link to it, etc.

But let me know if there's anything wrong!

Here's the beautiful thing:

1,254,183 posts

... and I do want to thank neonzx for inspiring me to get off my butt and see if I could find an old workable copy of the DB.

On the other hand, we are missing the posts from Feb. 18 to 21. Probably the most brilliant posts evar!

What about for hidden comments? (Some were fond of hiding material from casual lurkers.)

Is there a way on New Bow to make a link to Former Bow? (Like in the "Quick Links" menu?)

This is incredible!!

It appears that HIDDEN posts do require logging in to see, logged in and was able to see them no problem.

Clearly, the first topic you wanted to be sure was available was Fogbow's Favourite TV Show™ and it is!

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Again! Mama June Shannon Indicted for Crack -- It's Complicated.

And -- all the Terry Trussell material! Have been trying to a year to find the song lyrics for the Work Song from Cinderella, HOORAY!

"The Work Song" from Walt Disney's "Cinderella" from Terry Trussell's Fantasyland
► Show Spoiler

It's like a treasure chest! The Spork, Bruce Doucette, Mark Kessler, soooo much to play and have fun with! Thanks again, Foggy!

Might have to login. I hope not, because it isn't going to send an email if you forgot your password. :blackeye:

That's in the planning, and will be implemented both ways.

Fogbow <--> Formerly

Now that I look at it, the DB is only current through January 17, 2021, which means we are missing a little more than a month of posts. But I don't have anything more recent (i.e., that's usable).

So, umm ... yeah. We're missing Joe's inauguration.

Mark Kessler—that’s the name I was trying to remember (the avid lib-owning gun nut sherif).

You're very welcome, and I'm very excited to have created a monstrously gaping hole in the space-time continuum of this Universe (and I fear for some of the others, too also).

As y'all can see, Lani had the last post on Formerly Fogbow, at precisely:

5:27 a.m (Eastern) on 17 January 2021, and I have the first one here (of course), at precisely:
8:45 a.m.(Eastern) on 22 February 2021.

Jan. 17 - 31 = 14 days
Feb. 1 - 22 = 22 days
Total: 36 days, 3 hours, and 18 minutes

My god, we're missing 5 weeks of posts, down the drain, never to return, we might as well have sentenced those posts to life in prison at hard labor!

Oh well, tough luck, if anyone sees the missing posts lemme know toot sweet!

I was worried that i was the last post on some of the threads. It must been me that allegedly did nothing wrong, but then the Fogster reminded me/us that there were several missing days in the spzce time continuum, so i can go back to blaming it on Schroedinger and Heisenberg

Yeah, no.

What happened was nobody's fault except the hosting company that lost my VPS that I was paying good money for, and they never did explain what they did. Fire? Flood? Nuclear attack? A plague of frogs?

The reason why the database is missing a month plus a few days of posts is, this copy was the last time I was able to download a copy of the database at all.

At the time (January 17, 2021) the DB was already well over 2 gigabytes in size. That's not so enormous on a hard drive, but it's difficult to keep an active connection to a server in (I don't even know where my server is physically located), even with a high-speed connection.

And meanwhile, my backups to my server itself were working fine. So I decided to rely on the backups on the server, since it was so difficult to download the entire database to my local computer.

Then my whole server died, including all the backups after January 17th.

That's how we got here.
