Comment: the state of the leaked code piece may give an indication when it was stolen, newer updates in Twitters repository don't show in the code. As for identifying the downloader, it would depend on the audit trail that Twitter keeps for its repository, when code was pulled. Of course this would require someone being still an employee to interpret. Call is out for a forensic audit of Twitter ;) My guess would be that at least from covid lockdown time VPN access to the Twitter company network was required, network access logs may give a pointer if kept long enough. Of course if this code snippet was central to the work of many programmers, the field of suspects would become a nightmare. Let's neither forget the possibility that the published code was copied in many pieces collected over a longer timeframe.

I'm under the impression that anyone with the skills to steal it would also have the skills to be pretty hard to catch.

Since we know Trump is too cheap to pay anyone does this mean he will no longer have all the best words?

Trump only has about twenty words, including but not limited to . . . witch hunt, frankly, beautiful, person, man, woman, camera, television...

That's a...pretty steep decline. A cliff, even.
Ken Klippenstein @kenklippenstein wrote: "From September to October of last year, the top 10 advertisers on Twitter spent $71 million on ads, according to estimates from Pathmatics. In the past two months, that figure dropped to just $7.6 million, a decline of 89%, the research firm said."

I predicted this when blue check went from "verified" to "paid sucker." Like most, I want to know the blue checkmark is actually Takei or his staff, not a random user with more money than brains.

Do the gov't agencies have to pony up, e.g., NPS, BLM, USFW?

They get the little icon and government label, but not a check IIRC.

Government (and "multilateral") officials and organizations get a grey checkmark.

A blue Checkmark is now a Badge that you contributed to Elmo's GoFundMe.

And the rest don't have a thousand dollars a month to blow on twitter so that plan is dead in the water. I wonder where Elmo is going to get the revenue stream to keep Twitter running.

You don't say. I find it hard to believe that Elon Musk's Twitter would act in such an unethical manner.
Zoë Schiffer @ZoeSchiffer wrote: NEW: Twitter hasn’t paid thousands of dollars in charitable donations that employees made in 2022, around the time of the acquisition. The money was taken out of employee paychecks but never reached the organizations. Benevity, the third-party platform that is used to facilitate the payments, told employees Twitter hasn’t yet approved the payments. After I started asking around about this yesterday Twitter said it is “actively working” to get the money to the NGOs.

Twitter was supposed to match these donations but that also has not yet happened.
