And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

‘Pack Your Stuff and Get Out of My House,’ Says Patriot Front Member’s Mom
After anonymous donors bailed them out, Jared Boyce went to his mom’s house and told her: “Don’t believe the media, Mom. We were just there because they’re grooming kids.”

https://www.thedailybeast.com/pack-your ... mbers-mom/
On Saturday, Idaho police arrested 31 people linked to the white nationalist group Patriot Front for allegedly conspiring to stoke chaos at an annual LGBTQ+ pride event in Coeur d’Alene. Authorities say the suspects were armed with riot gear, shields, and a smoke grenade, along with documents that appeared to be an “operations plan.”

Now, in an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, the mother of one arrestee is speaking out in hopes that her son will finally cut ties with the extremist faction.

Karen Amsden, mom of alleged Patriot Front member and Springville, Utah resident Jared Michael Boyce, said on Monday that her son has struggled to fill “a void” in his life ever since his father left the family years ago and came out as gay. A licensed clinical social worker, Amsden said she’s going public in an attempt to sabotage his standing in the group, because her other attempts at convincing him to walk away from the far right have so far failed.

“I would love to do whatever I can to out him [as a Patriot Front member] so that he can’t be a part of it,” she said. “And that they don’t want him to be a part of their group because his mom has loose lips and a big mouth and he’s never going to get away with anything.”

Amsden said that after her son was released from jail, he told her he’d continue to stand with the group, so she delivered an ultimatum. “I told him, ‘Well, then you can’t live here. You can choose between Patriot Front and your family.’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I can’t quit Patriot Front.’ I’m like, ‘Well, then you've just chosen. So pack your stuff and get out of my house.’” :snippity:
Jared is 27 years old. Not a kid.

Joe Biden issues executive order to fight conversion therapy & LGBTQ fostering discrimination
Joe Biden promised to work to get a law passed banning conversion therapy on the campaign trail. Now he's doing what he can on his own.

The executive order tells the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to issue rules that ban the use of federal funds for programs that offer conversion therapy. HHS will also have to increase public awareness about the harms of conversion therapy.

Major health and mental health organizations oppose conversion therapy, which describes a set of techniques that practitioners promise will turn gay and bi people straight and trans and non-binary people cis.

Conversion therapy is based on the idea that LGBTQ identity is a problem to be fixed, which can lead to long-term damage to victims’ self-esteem. A 2013 survey showed that 84 percent of former patients of conversion therapy said it inflicted lasting shame and emotional harm, and another study found that LGBTQ people who were forced into conversion therapy had an attempted suicide rate five times above normal.

The Biden administration is also encouraging the Federal Trade Commission to consider classifying conversion therapy as an “unfair or deceptive act or practice” that would require consumer warnings. The Departments of State, Treasury, and HHS are also working on a plan to ensure that U.S. foreign aid funds don’t go to conversion therapy.

Sadly, they are getting a taste of the medicine they themselves made so potent. Sadly because of its effects on society.

Just a reminder that on this day 9 years ago, DoMA section 3 was overturned in US v. Windsor, forcing the federal government to recognize same-sex marriages as equal to mixed-sex marriages. And exactly two years later, Obergefell v. Hodges made same-sex marriage a constitutionally protected right.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan businesses cannot discriminate based on sexual orientation under the state’s civil rights act, the state Supreme Court has ruled.

The decision came Thursday in Rouch World, LLC v. Department of Civil Right. The suit was filed by Rouch World, a wedding venue in Sturgis that would not host the wedding of a same-sex couple, and Uprooted Electrolysis in Marquette, which would not provide hair-removal services to a woman who is transgender. The owners of both businesses said it was against their religious beliefs.

According to court documents, the couple, Natalie Johnson and Megan Oswalt, and the woman who is transgender, Marissa Wolfe, filed a complaint with the Department of Civil Rights. The department, which has argued Michigan’s Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act covers sexual orientation and gender identity, opened an investigation. That investigation was stayed when the business owners brought the issue to court. The Court of Claims ruled that the state’s civil rights act does not cover sexual orientation but does cover gender identity. The Michigan Supreme Court then agreed to hear the case to determine if the civil rights act does cover discrimination based on sexual orientation.

In an opinion issued by Justice Elizabeth Clement and joined by Chief Justice Bridget McCormack, Justice Richard Bernstein, Justice Megan Cavanagh and Justice Elizabeth Welch, the Supreme Court ruled the state’s civil rights act does protect against discrimination over sexual orientation, because the civil rights act covers discrimination based on sex.

“Rouch World denied female complainant Johnson’s request for services related to her wedding with female complainant Oswalt. Had Johnson instead been a male, Rouch World would not have denied its services,” the majority opinion says. “In other words, but for Johnson’s sex, Rouch World would have rendered its services to Johnson.”

Kentucky AG among Republican AGs suing U.S. agency over LGBTQ school guidance
https://www.lex18.com/news/covering-the ... l-guidance
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Kentucky Attonery General Daniel Cameron is among more than 20 Republican attorneys general that filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration.

The lawsuit is over a Department of Agriculture school meal program that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

The challenge claims that the federal government is attempting to force states and schools to follow anti-discrimination requirements that misconstrue the law.

The USDA announced in June it would include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity as a violation to Title IX. It was not clear whether the federal government would hold back funding for school meal programs as part of its enforcement.

Josh Block @JoshABlock wrote: Fourth Circuit’s decision in Williams v Kincaid is out. Court holds that gender dysphoria is covered by ADA. Exclusion for “gender identity disorders” doesn’t apply because GD is not a GID as term was understood in 1990 and exclusion raises constitutional concerns.
Kesha Williams, a transgender woman with gender dysphoria, spent six months incarcerated in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Though prison deputies initially assigned her to women’s housing, they quickly moved her to men’s housing when they learned that she was transgender. There, she experienced delays in medical treatment for her gender dysphoria, harassment by other inmates, and persistent and intentional misgendering and harassment by prison deputies. Following her release from the detention center, Williams filed this § 1983 action against the Sheriff of Fairfax County, a prison deputy, and a prison nurse alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), the Rehabilitation Act, the United States Constitution, and state common law. The district court dismissed the case, holding that the complaint failed to state grounds for relief with respect to some claims and that the statute of limitations barred others. For the reasons that follow, we disagree and so reverse and remand for further proceedings.

Corrections really did a number on her, horrifying.
