Back in the late 70s/early 80s, our WI house was constantly protested by christofascists because my mother helped establish and worked at a clinic in Appleton, that clinic bombed (acid/fire) repeatedly.

So much so, it no longer exists.

I understand the Right of Bundy and others to protest at people's homes.

Fuck Alito, Kavanaugh and the rest of the right.

And, I approve of the "left" finally going on the offensive.

(Postscript: Our mother was an ERA activist in an area where the JBS and, at the time, Mormons and Schlaffley-ites dominated local politics. She, her cadre and their families endured more than most can imagine to help exercise what was once a Right. She made me read Our Bodies, Ourselves and was a role model for my political life.

Her ashes are swirling in Harris Lake with what has happened over the last 30 years, culminated in 2022.

Democrats suck, the 2 party system fucked, then as now. There is no political help and I empathize with the sovereigns of the world who believe philosophically different than me. I wish we had a parliamentary system of governance like the rest of the modern democratic world as it would be far more representative and efficacious for those voters who participate. When people lose efficacy, we end up with a 2022 U.S. that will only increase in chaos.)

For shits, the clinic in Appleton was acid bombed multiple times, a few fire, for 30+ years before it closed in 2016 (it began in 1973 before Planned Parenthood existed; I was there as a kid).

And, what did Democrats do during those 50 years?

As a voter, you and I are supposed to just accept this?

So, there is this tasty tidbit heading to a Supreme Court near you next term:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/how-a ... li=BBnb7Kz

So we have the Pork Producers Council along with the American Farm Bureau Federation suing California because of the initiative we passed in 2018 requiring farmed animals to have a decent living space. Since Iowa hog farmers aren't providing adequate space, California has blocked importing pork and other swine products from Iowa and other states.

The story points out the "doctrine" of the dormant commerce clause. It seems to me that The Sinister Sextet will have to deal with this thorny legal issue and how it might play out if selected states pass legislation criminalizing obtaining abortions in other states where abortions remain legal. I mean, if a state cannot tell another state how to raise its swine, then how can a state tell another state that it cannot provide abortions on its citizens without that citizen being subject to arrest for a felony?

Sometimes, I think the Supreme Court makes up its rules as they go along, sorta like we did when we were children and we hit the ball into Mrs. McNair's yard. And if that fails, then they ask for backsies.

The circumstances are quite inapt. California is not criminalising Iowan farmers selling pork to its citizens when they are in Iowa, nor is it criminalising Californians who purchase pork while in Iowa. The issue instead is whether regulation of pork has been claimed exclusively by Congress by its exercise of the Commerce Clause. It could, however, have implications for whether abortifacients could be mailed from out of state.

Spain to ease abortion limits for over-16s and allow menstrual leave
Parental permission to end for terminations and up to five days’ leave a month for painful periods

Spain’s Socialist-led coalition government is preparing a law that would allow women over the age of 16 to have abortions without permission from their parents or guardians, and introduce up to five days of menstrual leave a month.

The draft legislation, which is due to be approved by the cabinet next week, is intended to ensure that abortion is available to all those using the public health system, and that menstruation is treated as a proper health issue.

When California banned foie gras, it didn't stop me from ordering it in from New York. (Which is where it came from the one other time I ordered it before the ban.)*

*and before anyone sneers at me, I've only ordered it twice, both times because I was making Beef Wellington, which is a huge pain in the ass and can't be made properly without it.

No excuses! It's a beating and time-out for you! Actually, I love foie gras. Mostly not available here n the Twilight Zone, but I make myself a fake fg using chicken livers cooked, pureed with cold butter. Hillbilly foie gras.

Way to go Jaja. So, if this great idea grows legs and becomes law, what you going to do when they haul your Mama away because she had an abortion before she married Dad?

Antifascists protest with rhyme.

Protestors in red Handmaid’s Tale robes walked past Amy Coney Barrett’s house with a sign that said “Keep your rosaries off my ovaries.” Perfect.

I LOVE it! I just went straight to Amazon and ordered that on a bumpersticker 8-)

It will be here by Monday. I'm old and no longer have a uterus but I'll still stand up for all women in need over the right to control her own life. No telling how many botched abortions and suicides have occurred throughout history, it's horrible to even think about! :crying: ENOUGH of that kind of shit! :oldlady:

When (some) teenage girls start committing suicide because they can't face pregnancy, how many deaths will these forced birthers count? Just the fetus, or will they count the living, breathing incubator?
