That was absolutely GORGEOUS! Thank you for sharing it, Northland :)

This is from a band called Wardruna. They're a Norwegian group that does song that are inspired by the Old Norse folk music, but somewhat updated. They use a combination of modern and ancient instruments and have some amazing vocal harmony. Many of their songs were used during episodes of the show "Vikings." The songs are sung in Norwegian, I've included an English translation of the lyrics. One thing to note: The song's English title is "The Path to Hel." In Norse lore, Hel is the name of both the Goddess of the Dead and her realm. Only those who die in battle go to Valhalla. Those who die of other causes either go to Hel's Hall or possibly to the Hall of the God/dess they were oathed to in life. Hel is not viewed as a place of punishment.

The path to Hel

Who shall sing me,
Into deathsleep sling me,
When I on the path to Hel go,
And this track I tread
Is cold, so cold, so cold.

I sought the songs,
I sent the songs.
Then the deepest well
Gave me tears so harsh
From the Slain-father's1 pledge.

I know everything, Odin,
To whom you gave your eye.

Who shall sing me,
Into deathsleep sling me,
Whence I on the path to Hel go,
And this track I tread
Is cold, so cold, so cold.

Early or in the day's end,
The raven still knows if I fall.

Once you stand at the gate to Hel
And when you have to tear free,
I shall follow you
Over Gjallarbrú2 with my song.

You will be free from the bonds that bind you,
You are free from the bonds that bound you!

"Cattle die,
Friends die,
So, too, must you die.
Though one thing
Never dies;
The fair fame one has earned.

Cattle die,
Friends die,
So, too, must you die.
I know one,
That never dies;
Judgement of a dead man's life."3
-------
1."Father of the slain"
2.Gjallarbrú (literally "Gjöll Bridge") is a bridge spanning the river Gjöll ("Resounding") in the underworld, which must be crossed in order to reach Hel.
3.Verses from Hávamál, 76-77.

Waaaay back in the days of pre-Steve Perry Journey, they opened up for I think it was Leonard Skynyrd. Audience was bored and booing until the final song that everyone loved and encored them. Can't for the life of me tell you what song it was.

Neon, I’m kind of foraging around to find Rhythm and Blues and I stumbled on this piece. Did you know the Danoff’s co-wrote John Denver’s Country Roads? I didn’t!
The lyrics that Danoff thought would be too colorful for 1970s radio were as follows:

In the foothills,
Hidin’ from the clouds,
Pink and purple,
West Virginia farm house,
Naked ladies,
Men who look like Christ,
And a dog named Poncho nibbling on the rice,
Country roads

Chopin's last piano gets its 19th-century features back

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — The last piano on which Frederic Chopin played and composed in Paris is being renovated by a U.S. expert who is giving it back its original mid-19th century characteristics.

Paul McNulty is spending days at the Frederic Chopin Museum in Warsaw filling in some cracks in the soundboard and putting in wire strings like the ones used by Paris piano manufacturer Camille Pleyel — Chopin's favorite — in 1848.

It had most of its iron wire strings changed for much stronger and tighter modern ones during renovation in the late 1950s that destroyed its tone and put strain on the whole structure.

McNulty and museum authorities believe the current work will bring it as close as possible to the sound that Chopin heard.

“We hope it will sing for us again,” said Aleksander Laskowski, spokesman for The Frederic Chopin Institute that houses the museum.

I was listening to this, especially the end, and my subwoofer was blowing on my feet (it is an old Dell desktop sound system but it does quite well, even with different computers). I like that.

And for something completely different, Jan Sandström does a wonderful arrangement of Es ist ein Ros entsprungen (Lo, how a rose e'er blooming) performed by Voces8

It's decided then. N10 will play the Organ Concerto when Foggy is crowned Supreme Dick Tater for Life. We will substitute ukeleles for the violins. We need a drum roll just before the crown touches his head bone.

That lovely music deserves to be heard by thousands!

Can't help with the drum roll but I have some dinner rolls left over from Thanksgiving that should be just about ready for the ceremonial pelting of the Exalted Rooster, the perfect capstone to this magnificent display of pageantry.

That brings back memories! Not because I'm a Yooper (I'm not), but because that was the car I had in high school: a 1973 Chevrolet Caprice.

The car in the video may have been a 1974 or 1975 Chevy Impala. For some reason they basically rebadged the 1973 Caprice, nearly unchanged, for a year or two as the slightly-less-luxurious Impala sedan, perhaps to save on tooling costs or to have something to sell if they couldn't get the Impala model finished in time.

The color and amount of rust match the 1968 Chevy Nova I had in 1987 (sadly the one with a 250 not a 350).
