An acquired taste, I believe. He's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

He used to have a great voice, lost it somehow.

What what was Louis Armstrongs alure? Bob Dylan?

Fact is they can all sing great, despite having a less than classically great voice.

Some people with great voices cant sing if their life depended on it.

Yeah I had that and a few other JLP albums. Was quite fascinated with his music for a couple of years in my late teens, but then I bought Roxy Music's Avalon album (on the basis of a Rolling Stone review and its beautiful cover) and it was as if my musical tastes changed dramatically overnight. There wasn't much JLP in my life after that.

After the 1:20 minute long intro, the rest of this tune is pure pop bliss...

Two great covers of great songs.

But, somehow I doubt that Screaming Jay Hawkins would like Ferry's version of 'Spell' very much except for the royalty check part. And even that may have been diluted by Ferry's playing fast and loose with the melody, he may have only gotten half the credit (lyrics only).

Ferry's version of "Will you still love me" is great, and easily the best version by a male performer I have heard, (certainly leagues better than the Bee Gees abomination). But I personally have a hard time 'buying' it from male singer. It is, to me, a female's song and always will be. I don't begrudge males attempting it, it just doesn't work for me.

Storm Large? Oh wow! I remember her from when she was on CBS's "find a lead singer for a rock band" called RockStar. I forget if she was on the first season, where they were trying to find INXS a new singer or the 2nd, where they were looking for someone to fill out "Supernovae, a band made up of Tommy Lee, one of the guys from Guns 'n' Rose's and Jason something of Metallica. Storm was a he'll of a singer, and she sounds great on the video!

I rewatched the entire Pulse concert after you posted this.

Then last night I went to a tiny local dive bar lounge where a local blues club was having its monthly jam. It was great fun.

But I was struck by the fact that the drum kit was maybe 3 snares, a bass, and a couple of cymbals, and Nick Mason's setup wouldn't fit in the room.

1 snare, 2 mounted toms, 1 floor tom, one kick drum with a double pedal, combined with a crash, ride, hi-hats and mini-crashes, that'll get you to most everything that Peart didn't play.
