In a continuation to the Brahms Violin Concerto post, I thought I would continue with some of my other violin favs.

Ernest Chausson - Poème, Op. 25

Max Bruch - Violin Concerto No. 1

I like to jump into the world of minimalism sometimes:

Arvo Pärt - Fratres

Not in my favs yet because I do not know it well but do like it

Clara Schumann - Three Romances for violin and piano, Op. 22

By the way

A bamboula is a type of drum made from a rum barrel with skin stretched over one end. It is also a dance accompanied by music from these drums.

In the present-day French language, the word bamboula has become an ethnic slur, directed at black people.

Apparently, this lady is playing electrified versions of traditional Japanese instruments.

I'm having trouble seeing any instruments, myself.

She does Crazy Train too. That's a lot of sound coming from a three string instrument.

It's almost go to bed time.

This is a song from the movie musical Xanadu -- ('83/84?)

Gene Kelly and Olivia Newton John. ELO is performing the song on this one.

I mentioned to one of my friendly neighborhood purveyors of fine vinyl records that I was listening to a bit of 'Exotica' lately.

He said, oh, you mean like Lyman and Martin Denny?
I said, yeah, and Esquival and Sun Ra and...
He said, ever hear of Yma Sumac?
I said, sure! I've got two of her albums including Flahooley which is a cast recording of a failed Broadway musical with 'Professor' Irwin Corey in the cast too!
He said, you've got to check out her 'Miracles' album, which this Youtube video claims is rare and valuable to collectors. Well it ain't all that rare exactly, its been pressed many times and the original pressing is only running for about $US50 bucks in mint condition on Discogs.

Whatever, it's kinda cool and this track is quite approachable.

Nice tribute, but for some reason the accordian standing in for the horns section cracks me up...

Yeah, that, but all I could think of was that they were auditioning for the Space Force Band.
