To tie some of this together, Jimi started his career with the Isley Bros in the early 60's.

Jimi moved on becoming famous in his own right. The Isley Bros evolved into a 70's funk band.

OK, I'll change the subject.

Here's a local Tucson hero band from my youth.

Has everybody heard about the bird?

I can't understand a thing being sung. And the music sounds like some interlude in a satanic horror film. I will stick with Fleetwood Mac. :biggrin:

It's in Latin and an older version at that. It is from a collection of 13th-century poems. The video is a joke about the fact the words are not understood unless you know medieval Latin.

Carl Orff's setting is the best known of the various settings of the poetry.
O Fortune,
like the moon
you are changeable,
ever waxing
ever waning;
hateful life
first oppresses
and then soothes
playing with mental clarity;
poverty
and power
it melts them like ice.

Fate – monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
you are malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through the game
I bring my bare back
to your villainy.

Fate is against me
in health
and virtue,
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
So at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating strings;
since Fate
strikes down the strong,
everyone weep with me!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmina_Burana
Carmina Burana (/ˈkɑːrmɪnə bʊˈrɑːnə/, Latin for "Songs from Benediktbeuern" [Buria in Latin]) is a manuscript of 254[1] poems and dramatic texts mostly from the 11th or 12th century, although some are from the 13th century. The pieces are mostly bawdy, irreverent, and satirical. They were written principally in Medieval Latin, a few in Middle High German and old Arpitan. Some are macaronic, a mixture of Latin and German or French vernacular.

They were written by students and clergy when Latin was the lingua franca throughout Italy and western Europe for travelling scholars, universities, and theologians. Most of the poems and songs appear to be the work of Goliards, clergy (mostly students) who satirized the Catholic Church. The collection preserves the works of a number of poets, including Peter of Blois, Walter of Châtillon and an anonymous poet referred to as the Archpoet.

Okay, I watched it again with my new found knowledge. Still does nothing for me. :? :shrug: It grates upon my nerves almost like death metal does.

So here is more Stevie Nicks. :biggrin:

Oh my.... K.C. seems to have put on a few more pounds and a toupee/fake hair. There is something to be said about aging gracefully.. K.C. is not doing it. :( Just let time roll.

For comparison, here is the original from 1980 when he could hit the notes in a falsetto.

In case you need more Jyoshi, here's their whole half hour session. The bass player's power stance is pretty awesome. And the drummer is outrageous. This group has got it.

K.C. was born January, 1951. Do the math. I do not know why these elder artists well past their prime perform when they are just playing hits from their young years -- nothing new. Maybe they enjoy it. Maybe they need the money. :shrug:

Musicians don't retire well. Performing is more than just a job, it is who you are.

There it is.

signed Bill, who isn't retiring well, and isn't a musician, but is one at heart.

Oh yeah. Happens a lot. They usually end up in Nevada in a Revue! show. Headliner at a casino. Free drinks and a band you used to like on the radio but never bought one of their records back in the day. I won't begrudge him trying to swing from the trees one last time. It's what he was built for, and like an old soldier looking for a war, he wants to step back into the glory.

Redbone anyone?
