My baby sister (9 years younger than me) just went into labor with her first child! Little Miss Valkyrie should be arriving very soon now. And today is my other niece's birthday (on Dr. Vicklund's side).

Ol' Wifehorn and I will travel up to see my dad later this month.

No word yet (expecting that the call will come from Mom). I'm officially on tenterhooks

Just got update from Mom. They're letting my sister rest and trying again tomorrow. Apparently, Valkyrie is as reluctant to come out as I was (46 hours of labor for me).

I'm an uncle! Valkyrie is 4 lbs. 14 oz. at birth. Yesterday was the 3 week early mark.

Grandma is of course ecstatic.

Daddy just called me, everyone's doing well. Valkyrie is big enough to go to the regular nursery!

Valkyrie is a very cool name, and if the girl thinks it's too weird, she can easily go by Val for short.

Update: the happy family is already home from the hospital! Valkyrie may not have wanted to come into this world quite this early, but she's determined not to let that hold her back. Now the big question: what kind of swordswoman will she be?*

*Daddy, uncle (me!), three cousins, and great-aunt are all students of the blade.
