Putin threatens the US if we continue to send aid to Ukraine. Biden continues to send aid to Ukraine. Sounds like "bad news for Biden."

Ukraine's military gets more aircraft and parts to repair others, Pentagon says

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/uk ... ce=twitter
Ukraine has defied expectations of allies and military experts by not only keeping its air force operational nearly two months after the start of Russia's invasion but actually repairing aircraft and, apparently, adding to its inventory.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby did not offer details on which countries provided aircraft, but acknowledged new transfers and said Ukraine had more operable fighter aircraft than it had two weeks ago.

"They have received additional aircraft and aircraft parts to help them get more aircraft in the air," Kirby told a news briefing, without elaborating.

Kirby said Washington had not provided any aircraft to Kyiv.

US congressman urges Biden to ban six UK lawyers for ‘enabling’ oligarchs

A US congressman has urged the Biden administration to ban six British lawyers from entering the US amid accusations that the lawyers have “enabled” “Putin’s” oligarchs by engaging in “abusive” lawsuits against journalists as part of an alleged effort to silence them.

Steve Cohen, a Democratic congressman from Tennessee, said in a letter to the US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, that the US needed to begin establishing “deterrents” against lawyers whom he accused of performing “unscrupulous work” that ultimately undermined democratic values.

“Despite our close ties with the United Kingdom, the nature of its libel laws and the vast amount of blood money in its financial system make it an ideal place for oligarchs to abuse the law to harass and intimidate,” Cohen wrote. He also cc’ed the US attorney general, Merrick Garland.

Since, if such a matter would go forward, it would most likely then extend to the organizations that support said miscreants, could have a rather unpleasant effect on the firms of Carter-Ruck, Harbottle & Lewis and CMS.

Would be interested to hear Mr Dunfords take on this as a resident and legal person in the UK.

Oh and Carter Ruck and Co in particular are well known for their.... shall we say .... rapacious and ethically flexible approach to who they work with and how they use the law to practice lawfare.... allegedly.

Rosneft issues rare tender to sell prompt Russian crude - sources

https://www.reuters.com/business/energy ... ce=twitter
Russia's top producer Rosneft has issued a rare tender to sell to Asia prompt cargoes of Sokol crude exported from Sakhalin fields, trade sources said on Wednesday, a sign of urgent sales as its supplies pile up.

The producer offered three 700,000-barrel cargoes for loading on May 7-10, 14-17 and May 27-June 1, they said.

Russian oil producers face growing difficulties in selling cargoes as refiners and trading companies avoid dealing with the supplies for fear of Western sanctions, imposed over the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which Moscow calls a "special operation".

Rosneft rarely sells crude through tenders as most of its oil has already been committed to trading companies such as Vitol and Trafigura under long-term financing schemes, the sources said.

To avoid capture, this $325 million superyacht of one of Russia’s wealthiest oligarchs sailed at full speed for 18 days to cross the Pacific ocean. Now the 347 feet vessel is held in Fiji for docking without customs clearance and the US government is planning to seize it.
