They can jump into the gorge hand in hand.
I’m totally OK with this idea.

Can we throw Kim in the mix? Go for the trifecta.

I am not okay with this unless someone can promise not to destroy an innocent classic car. I need a "Tesla Roadster" clause and then I'm in.

That's an acceptable compromise. I have some fear that when the Tesla Roadster we sent into space reaches alien life that we are gonna have to explain ourselves.

Would a bullet coming out of that barrel fly straight? Sloppy!

I.. guess it would fly straight, but not quite in the direction one intended. I think the bigger issue though would be the chances of the barrel splitting would be much higher.

Assuming the bore is straight (no certainty of that) then the first, possibly second round should be ballistically true. Every subsequent round will, as the barrel heats up VERY unevenly, will start to shift laterally and possibly start to twist as well.

It appears to be the 2A72 30mm autocannon barrel and someone has cut the barrel possibly to identify wear and expected residual barrel life.

Just going by the photograph, the lands and grooves do NOT appear to be consistent which tends to reinforce the obvious poor QC/QA.

All in all, official barrel life of 6,000 rounds is wildly optimistic, I'd expect less than half, if that. Since the Russian Army supply chain and stock management appears wholly borked i expect they won't replace the barrels as required which means eventually every one of these will have the accuracy of a muzzle loaded musket.

Oh and if the QA/QC is as consistently bad in the rest of the weapons assembly, expect catastrophic barrel and breach failures on a not infrequent basis

That may already be happening, according to Gen. Mark Hertling:

In my 30+ years of working on the design of petrochemical plants all around the world I can recall no time when we sourced equipment, silos pressure vessels or indeed anything else other than oil and gas from the USSR and later Russia.

:yeahthat:

That barrel is not safe to fire. One round if fired would go straight from the axis of the rifle, the problem is that is not the same as the axis of the aiming system so it would go the wrong way.

The other problem is, gun barrels get hot, and when they get hot they warp a little and that is a problem by itself BUT when one is so off center like that, it warps way more on the skinny side than the fat side. After a few rounds being fired, if the force of a round didn't shatter the wall coming out, it could get stuck instead and that would end in "tank go boom", the tank being the BMP the gun was mounted to.

It would be a spectacular event very much like a Bugs bunny sticking his finger in Elmer Fudd's rifle.

Heh. Years ago when I was first learning to shoot, the instructor brought in a whole duffle bag of gun barrels that had failed in various ways, including pretty bugsy bunny style banana peels. Unnerving to get to see and hold.

Moscow's 'overarching goal' is to oust Ukraine's President, says Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

Russia's Foreign Minister says Moscow's overarching goal in Ukraine is to topple President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's government, expressing the Kremlin's war aims in some of the bluntest terms yet, as its forces pummel the country with artillery barrages and air strikes.

Key points:
Sergei Lavrov's new remarks contrasted with the Kremlin's earlier position that Russia wasn't seeking to overthrow Ukraine's government
Moscow said the recent strike Odesa's port would not affect Ukraine's grain shipments
Russia will further reduce natural gas flows through a major pipeline to Europe
