Sez the group with a six hour educational class on the Constitution with a quack today.
Just what we need, the Constitution interpreted for us by a bunch of illiterates.
Why, Ms Dawg, do you think law schools teach Constitutional Law? The Constitution is not like a cookbook with step by step instructions.

I would hazard a guess that it is because she is headed home, i.e. Not On Official Convoy Business.

If anyone would like to join a mission, please do.

My friends and I are shipping pride and prochoice items to the 1776. One item per box.

The 1776 livestreams the opening of packages.

If you could join us, it would be much appreciated!

So far I've sent (under the name Kamala Pelosi):

They cover it for official "missions", only. They've always said they'd cover fuel costs for members to go home. They've been lying about that for a while now.

Does it have to be Amazon, because the stuff you show is way too safe for work to suit my own sense of whimsy.

That pesky 2nd Amendment  So it's clear, but where is her militia? And it's clear what a "well regulated" militia is, or is it? What are her opinions on those regulations without further details? Do we need to let a SheepDawg lose among the SCOTUS?

That whole elk love them some original intent, but fail to recognize the Founders were so criticized for their first whack at the apple, they had to write a list of amendments immediately after forever setting the precedent it is a living document.

The militia thing is totally lost. I read a Revolutionary War history that largely focused on the militias. While the Continental Army was off fighting official battles over key stakes, British and allied (mostly Native) raiders were killing farmers, taking animals, and burning crops. The Continental Army wasn’t about to help with these actions. The local militias, often made up of farmers, were expected to.

Being farmers, they were poorly trained and equipped. They might have a gun to fend off varmint animals but the guns were often in poor condition and the farmers weren’t exactly crack shots. They weren’t too fond of being called up for threats they didn’t consider imminent, and they weren’t disciplined or efficient. Many farmers weren’t of British descent, and many didn’t consider themselves “American,” whatever that meant at the time. They just wanted to farm and raise families.

Members of these militias were butchered in action. The Revolutionary War was brutal. The Civil War overshadows how brutal.

I haven’t had a chance to delve into the thinking behind the second amendment but wouldn’t be surprised if it stemmed mostly from having militias prepared to defend localities vs. the professional army at the war’s front. Which would make all this anti-government second amendment whining pure BS.

Umm ... I seem to recall that we won the Battle of Saratoga in part because the farmers were excellent marksmen. I have hunted varmints, and you aren't successful at that if'n you can't aim a gun. Most American farmers had plenty of experience shooting at things that were smaller than a British soldier, so they didn't have any trouble hitting their targets.

So this stuff about "the guns were often in poor condition and the farmers weren’t exactly crack shots" doesn't ring true .

Hate to correct but the militia, both organised and unorganised are a CURRENT legally defined and accepted entity.

https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?pat ... al%20Guard.

246. Militia: composition and classes
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

(b) The classes of the militia are—

(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and

(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

(Aug. 10, 1956, ch. 1041, 70A Stat. 14, §311; Pub. L. 85–861, §1(7), Sept. 2, 1958, 72 Stat. 1439; Pub. L. 103–160, div. A, title V, §524(a), Nov. 30, 1993, 107 Stat. 1656; renumbered §246, Pub. L. 114–328, div. A, title XII, §1241(a)(2), Dec. 23, 2016, 130 Stat. 2497.)

I think it depends on what stage/type of warfare. Hunters and farmers tend to have better equipment and training than, well, nothing, but worse than a soldier. It is a better start than pure conscripts with zero training or equipment, but is still 'poorly trained and equipped' for when you are trying to build any sort of organized military that needs not skills related to working together in a unit against other units, but needing firearms that fire when you need them to.

Precisely. They sometimes won but at great cost. And they were reluctant to fight if they thought they’d be unaffected. (They didn’t realize these raids were going to hit nearly everyone.)
