In last night's debate, here are some of the extreme right wing views expressed by the R candidate leading in the polls in Ohio:

Mandel said #blm and Antifa "must be crushed, and that our nation "must give police officers the benefit of the doubt."
He emphasized this is a "Judeo-Christian nation" and that Democrats are allowing illegal immigrants into the country to take jobs away from black people.
He said the US needs to maximize its fossil fuel extraction.
He said the 2020 election was stolen.
He said COVID-19 was released from a Chinese lab to sabotage the US economy. He said COVID has involved a "huge shift of power" but neglected to say where the power went: to the mega rich for whom he works.
He referred to public education as "government schools" that take away parents' rights so that the radical left can teach children godlessness and about "50 genders" they can have.

Josh Mandel also said separation of church and state is a myth. Then posted it on his Twitter.

Hey Ohioans!! I read an article not too long ago on LGM (Lawyers, Guns, and Money) that said Trump has not endorsed in the Ohio Senate race. He considers Josh Mandel, who is apparently leading in the polls, a non-charismatic weirdo. Trump is not wrong. I also hear that there is scurrilous gossip emanating from the Vance campaign (Peter Thiel gossiping to Trump) about sexual innuendo involving Mandel.

I had a conversation about this with hubby, who told me to get on it, girl. Anyone heard anything?

So the two Republican frontrunners seem like real winners.

The latest. I watched a few minutes. Jane Timken is articulate and well-spoken. All are competing to see who's the Trumpiest.

Then come on down! You're our kind of people!

I so phucking hate J.D. Vance. Middlettown is eff'n NYC compared to Argillite. Poor Appalachian kid grows up and goes to Ivy League School, big deal. To be honest, its not that uncommon around here, a lot of people in Cincinnati have roots in Eastern Kentucky or West Virginia, we have as many people go to good east coast schools as is to be expected and more than a few of them grew up to be entitled assholes.

J.D. makes his background sound a lot bleaker than it probably was. I get the feeling he read Grapes of Wrath and tried to imagine himself an Oakie.

No!

I mean...my nephew in Columbus just informed me that there is a Der Dutchman Restaurant a mere 3 miles from him and I JUST HAVE TO GO, so I nominate that as where we should meet!

So… The rich are getting screwed, and the middle class aren’t paying their fair share. Sounds like a winning Republican platform!

selective wording dishonesty
More than half of American households paid no federal income tax last year due to Covid-relief funds, tax credits and stimulus, according to a new report.
The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center estimates that 57% of U.S. households paid no federal income taxes for 2021, up substantially from the 44% before the pandemic.
Since most workers pay payroll taxes, the share of Americans who pay neither payroll nor federal income taxes was only 19% in 2021, slightly higher than the 17% rate before the crisis.

Yeah, one of the benefits of living in Ohio right now is seeing what a special kind of asshole he is. I've read history all my life and I seriously believe that a good half of all the asshole politicians since Pontius Pilate are running for the Republican nomination for the Senate this year. I mean any race where J.D.Vance isn't hands down the phucknut of the field is a thing, but I'm not sure he's a lock for top 3 in this nightmare.

About that tax inequity thing, yeah, 20% of the people pay 82% of the tax, but they control at least that much of the wealth so the hell with them, er, us, 'cause I'm solidly one of them. Socialist hero that I am, though, I hardly feel like I need to keep a few more shekels so bad that a single mom waiting tables needs to pony up so I can afford another $5,000 quilt that gets hung on the wall.

Trump plans J.D. Vance endorsement in crowded Ohio senate race, sources say
The Republican primary in Ohio remains tight between the crowded field.

Former President Trump is planning to endorse J.D. Vance in Ohio's crowded senate GOP primary, according to three sources with knowledge of his decision.

In recent days, Trump began calling donors and advisers to get their opinion endorsing on the “Hillbilly Elegy” author, but he held off under intense pressure from the rival Republican campaigns of Josh Mandel and Jane Timken, the sources said.

"The Mandel people hit the roof," one Republican with knowledge of the discussions told NBC News, noting that Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan tried to dissuade Trump on behalf of Mandel, whom the congressman supports.

You beat me to it Gregg. IMO it is about the Peter Thiel connection. Thiel is Vance's sugar daddy and Trump probably craves his support for 2024, because Thiel could buy and sell Trump 100 or so times over.

tfg wrote:PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP ENDORSES J.D. VANCE FOR THE UNITED STATES SENATE IN OHIO

MAGA patriots from across the nation are set to deliver an election landside for Republicans that will serve as a devastating rebuke of the failures of Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats. In the Great State of Ohio, the candidate most qualified and ready to win in November is J.D. Vance. We cannot play games. It is all about winning!

Like some others, J.D. Vance may have said some not so great things about me in the past, but he gets it now, and I have seen that in spades. He is our best chance for victory in what could be a very tough race. The Democrats will be spending many millions of dollars, but the good news is that they have a defective candidate who ran for President and garnered exactly zero percent in the polls. The bottom line is, we must have a Republican victory in Ohio.

This is not an easy endorsement for me to make because I like and respect some of the other candidates in the race -they've said great things about "Trump" and, like me, they love Ohio and love our Country. I've studied this race closely and I think J.D. is the most likely to take out the weak, but dangerous, Democrat opponent -dangerous because they will have so much money to spend. However, J.D. will destroy him in the debates and will fight for the MAGA Movement in the Senate. He's strong on the Border, tough on Crime, understands how to use Taxes and Tariffs to hold China accountable, will fight to break up Big Tech, and has been a warrior on the Rigged and Stolen Presidential Election. J.D. is a Marine who served in the Iraq War, a graduate of The Ohio State University, and earned a Law Degree from Yale- a great student. With J.D. Vance, Ohio gets both brains and brawn. Ohio has been good to me, I won it twice, really BIG, and I have likewise been GREAT for Ohio. Let's keep it going!

It is time for the entire MAGA movement, the greatest in the history of our Country, to unite behind J.D.'s campaign because, unlike so many other pretenders and wannabes, he will put America First. In other words, J.D. Vance has my Complete and Total Endorsement. He will not let you down. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
