Sam Scarmardo, head of the Mohave County GOP, said that if people have been changing their minds on Trump it’s only because of “the left-wingers who are doing everything they can to destroy him and bring the country to its knees.”

“A lot of people think coronavirus was blown out of proportion to damage Trump,” he said.

Scarmardo said voters in Mohave County have a Wild West mind-set and are naturally drawn to Trump’s defense of gun rights, his disdain for government regulation and his vow to stop unauthorized immigration from the Mexican border, which lies 150 miles to the south.
I’ve met Sam’s kind of narrow before, but it’s striking it’s persisted into the 21st century. I notice he uses “many people are saying” to validate the collective ignorance.

WH baby has a disdain for government regulations ? That's why he likes to govern by EOs, another shape shifting form of government regulation :?. Or should i have read this as the Wild West Dreamers don't believe in their county government either?

Amazon’s video site Twitch suspends Trump’s channel, citing ‘hateful conduct’

PUBLISHED MON, JUN 29 20201:49 PM EDTUPDATED AN HOUR AGO

KEY POINTS
Amazon’s live streaming video site Twitch temporarily banned President Donald Trump from its platform Monday, citing “hateful conduct” in his posts.
It’s unclear how long Trump’s channel will be suspended.
The Trump campaign joined Twitch last year in order to stream its rallies and events.

Amazon’s video site Twitch, primarily used to stream e-sports, temporarily banned President Donald Trump from its platform Monday, citing “hateful conduct” in his posts.

Twitch pointed to comments made at two rallies that led to its decision. At a campaign rally in 2016, which was recently rebroadcast on the platform, Trump said Mexico was sending over its bad actors, such as rapists or drug dealers. Twitch also pointed to Trump’s recent Tulsa rally, where he told a fictional story of a ‘tough hombre’ invading someone’s home.

“Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch. In line with our policies, President Trump’s channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed,” a Twitch spokesperson told CNBC.

Reddit, Acting Against Hate Speech, Bans ‘The_Donald’ Subreddit
The influential pro-Trump community broke the rules on harassment and targeting, said Reddit, which also banned other groups.

By Mike Isaac
June 29, 2020 Updated 2:55 p.m. ET

SAN FRANCISCO — Reddit, one of the largest social networking and message board websites, on Monday banned its biggest community devoted to President Trump as part of an overhaul of its hate speech policies.

The community or “subreddit,” called “The_Donald,” is home to more than 790,000 users who post memes, viral videos and supportive messages about Mr. Trump. Reddit executives said the group, which has been highly influential in cultivating and stoking Mr. Trump’s online base, had consistently broken its rules by allowing people to target and harass others with hate speech.

“Reddit is a place for community and belonging, not for attacking people,” Steve Huffman, the company’s chief executive, said in a call with reporters. “‘The_Donald’ has been in violation of that.”

Reddit said it was also banning roughly 2,000 other communities from across the political spectrum, including one devoted to the leftist podcasting group “Chapo Trap House,” which has about 160,000 regular users. The vast majority of the forums that are being banned are inactive.

“The_Donald,” which has been a digital foundation for Mr. Trump’s supporters, is by far the most active and prominent community that Reddit decided to act against. For years, many of the most viral Trump memes that broke through to Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere could be traced back to “The_Donald.” One video, “The Trump Effect,” originated on “The_Donald” in mid-2016 before bubbling up to Mr. Trump, who tweeted it to his 83 million followers.

Politico: Trump team’s brewing debate: How to message a raging health emergency

One group of White House aides wants more attention on the surging virus. The other wants to leave it to local officials. Now they’re trying to find a middle ground.

The Trump White House has a new internal battle: how much to talk publicly about a pandemic that’s crippling huge swaths of America.

President Donald Trump’s top aides are divided over the merits of resuming national press briefings to keep the public informed about the latest coronavirus statistics as infection rates spike in large states including California, Texas, Florida, Arizona and Georgia.

Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows, senior adviser Jared Kushner, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and counselor to the president Hope Hicks are among the aides arguing against these regular sessions because they want to keep the White House focused on the path forward and the nascent economic recovery — without scaring too much of the country about a virus resurgence when infections are rising at different paces in different regions.

Other senior aides, as well as Vice President Mike Pence and his team, believe keeping Americans up-to-date about the nature of the outbreak is critical as the death toll rises. More than 126,000 people have perished in the U.S. due to the coronavirus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the government’s own experts are warning of serious trouble ahead.

The brewing internal fight shows the extent to which the White House has lost control of its messaging on Covid-19 as the majority of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the virus, according to interviews with a half dozen current and former senior administration officials and Republicans close to the White House.

Trump’s standing in the polls has slipped in recent weeks among senior citizens, suburban women and white non-college educated voters, all critical constituencies for the president heading into the heat of his reelection race. Top aides cannot decide the best way for Trump to appear in control of the response — while the president himself has remained focused on culture-war concerns such as protests, the removal of monuments and the funding of law enforcement.

What they are really saying is they want to do a daily virus briefing, but it's only beneficial if Trump is not at them and they don't know how to tell him that.

It's in the weeds but people like knowing about Florida. These buys makes sense -- the I-4 corridor (near Disney World) is where lots of elections swing. Just saw another negative Biden ad on New Day CNN (if IMPOTUS is advertising on a fake news network, does it mean his ad is fake too? Coffee.) Biden just blew the whole weak, frail hope of those pieces of trash, it just looks desperate. And as many have said, even those gaffs show he has more understanding and truthful than any day of IMPOTUS. All those "donate now it's an emergency, the president is counting on your immediate support" texts and emails raising money hard at work. Ohio  Arizona  North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. No spending in Michigan. Hmmm. With these people, following the money is the only truth.
Trump re-election campaign makes huge Florida TV ad buy
By ANTHONY MAN SOUTH FLORIDA SUN SENTINEL JUN 30, 2020 AT 2:07 PM

President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign, which is seeing warnings that he’s vulnerable in Florida and other critical states, has gone on a buying binge of TV ad time for the final months of the campaign. The ad tracking firm Advertising Analytics reported a huge Trump campaign TV ad buy on Monday: $95 million in six states for ads starting the day after Labor Day through Election Day. Florida accounts for more than one-third of the ad time the Trump campaign bought on Monday for the final fall push: $32 million.Based on the latest ad time it bought, the Trump campaign is planning its biggest advertising pushes in two areas of the state that are often seen as the most up for grabs: Tampa Bay and Orlando-Daytona Beach. The Interstate 4 corridor in the central part of the state is highly contested by both sides in statewide elections.

Figures from Advertising Analytics show the Trump campaign bought $12.2 million in the Tampa Bay television market for ads from Labor Day through Election Day. In Orlando, it bought $8.8 million for the fall push. Trump also is spending heavily in the state’s most expensive TV market: Miami-Fort Lauderdale, which is in line for $5.9 million of September, October and November advertising. South Florida is the state’s Democratic stronghold, and Biden will win the region. But Trump still needs to turn out Republican votes in the region to hold down the Democrats’ margin. Advertising Analytics found the Trump campaign bought $2.4 million in the Jacksonville market in northeast Florida and $2.9 million in the Fort Myers-Naples market in southwest Florida. Those are large investments in areas of the state in which TV time is much less expensive than the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market. Trump won the southwest Florida market by some 24 percentage points in 2016.

Update: in total we saw $95.3M spent by the Trump campaign today in six states, by far his biggest single spending day this election cycle. #Election2020 https://t.co/3ZzLRqdfjo
— Advertising Analytics (@Ad_Analytics) June 29, 2020

The reason for the spending is clear. Florida is essential for Trump to win re-election. Florida is the largest of the half-dozen swing states that could go either way in November and determine which candidate wins. It awards 29 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency, and important statewide elections are almost always exceedingly close. In 2016, for example, Trump won 49% of the vote statewide to Democrat Hillary Clinton’s 47.8%. There are signs of weakness for Trump. Two high-quality public opinion polls, from The New York Times/Siena College and from Fox News, on Thursday and Friday showed Trump trailing Biden in Florida. The RealClearPolitics average of the five most recent public polls in Florida has Biden 7 points ahead of Trump.

It’s also personal for Trump. Long before becoming president he enjoyed spending time in the state, and has golf courses and other Florida properties, including his prized Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. Last year, when he got mad at New York, he said he considered Florida as his permanent residence. The Trump campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. On Tuesday afternoon, the Florida press secretary for the Republican National Committee issued a statement with the subject line, “President Trump’s Great American Comeback Defies Expectations.” Both sides have been advertising in Florida. Two weeks ago, the Biden campaign announced its first major spending in the state, concentrating on Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and the Panhandle, where it hopes to win over some people who voted for Trump in 2016.

Advertising Analytics reported $654,000 in June advertising from the Trump campaign, and said it’s bought another $981,000 for July. The Trump campaign buying spree on Monday included spending in four of the five other battlegrounds: Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The sixth battleground, Michigan a state that polling and analysts increasingly see as tough for Trump to win, is not on the list of states in which his campaign bought time on Monday. Trump did buy advertising time in Ohio, which is significant because Trump won that state by 8 points in 2016. Spending there indicates a desire by the Trump campaign to shore up its position. On Friday, Advertising Analytics reported the Trump campaign was buying ad time in Georgia, which has gone Republican in every presidential election since 1992.

The remarkable thing is that the Trump 2020 campaign had heretofore been a fundraising powerhouse. A lot of my friends who do consulting on the Democratic side professionally (as opposed to my dabbling in it) were quite worried about it last year. They're not nearly as worried now, on account of how profligate Parscale & Co. have been with their war chest, not to mention the legitimate necessity for Trump to be running ads in places no Republican should need to.

CNN: Trump campaign chief operating officer reassigned following Tulsa rally fallout

(CNN) Michael Glassner -- the Trump campaign's chief operating officer, who previously handled President Donald Trump's rallies -- has been reassigned to deal with legal affairs during the homestretch of the campaign.

Aides began making plans to put Glassner in this new role following the rally on June 20 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the President spoke to an unfilled arena -- a scene about which he has continued to fume. Though there were questions about campaign manager Brad Parscale's future, Glassner was seen as a potential target as well, given the prominent role he played in orchestrating these events.

Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh denied that the reassignment was a reaction to the Tulsa rally. ...

Tulsa was Trump's first rally in three months, since coronavirus restrictions were put in place, and it served as a stark reminder for the campaign -- and the President -- that the pandemic is far from over. Eight campaign staffers and two Secret Service agents in Tulsa tested positive for coronavirus and the remaining campaign staffers who attended the rally quarantined the following week. The campaign conducted temperature checks, provided hand sanitizer to attendees and passed out masks, but did not require people to wear them or to social distance during the event.

Signs promoting social distancing during the event were removed by campaign staff. A similar scene unfolded a few days later when Trump spoke at a crowded church in Arizona where few attendees wore masks.

The news of Glassner's reassignment comes on the same day that the Trump campaign scrapped plans to hold a rally in Alabama next weekend due to the coronavirus.

Vanity Fair - Gabe Sherman: “What Do I Do? What Do I Do?”: Trump Desperate, Despondent as Numbers Crater, “Loser” Label Looms

With Donald Trump’s approval sinking to Jimmy Carter levels and coronavirus cases spiking across the country, Trump is reluctantly waking up to the grim reality that, if the current situation holds, his reelection is gone. Republicans that have spoken with Trump in recent days describe him as depressed and “down in the dumps.” “People around him think his heart’s not in it,” a Republican close to the White House said. Torn between the imperative to win suburban voters and his instincts to play to his base, Trump has complained to people that he’s in a political box with no obvious way out. According to the Republican, Trump called Tucker Carlson late last week and said, “what do I do? What do I do?”

To console himself, Trump still has moments of magical thinking. “He says the polls are all fake,” a Republican in touch with Trump told me. But the bad news keeps coming. This week, Jacksonville, Florida—where Trump moved the Republican National Convention so he could hold a 15,000-person rally next month—mandated that people wear masks indoors to slow the explosion of COVID-19 cases. According to a Republican working on the convention, the campaign is now preparing to cancel the event so that Trump doesn’t suffer another Tulsa–like humiliation. “They probably won’t have it,” the source said. “It’s not going to be the soft landing Trump wanted.” ...

Trump remains furious at his son-in-law Jared Kushner, whom he blames for the campaign’s dismal poll numbers. Axios reported this week that Trump complained privately that Kushner’s advice on criminal-justice reform damaged Trump politically. But because Kushner is family, sources say it’s unlikely that Trump will formally strip him of authority.

Kushner’s vast sway over West Wing decisions has become a flashpoint between him and Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, sources say. The two have been engaged in a cold war over control of the campaign. Meadows pushed Trump to replace campaign manager Brad Parscale, a Kushner ally, the Republican close to the White House said. Kushner wasn’t happy that Meadows is close with Kushner’s adversaries Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie. “Meadows is in real shit. He went to war with Jared and tried to get Brad out,” the Republican, briefed on the internal debate, told me. A couple weeks ago, Meadows unloaded about Kushner over dinner with his predecessor, Mick Mulvaney, at Sette Osteria near the White House. “All Mark did was complain how much operational control Jared has and how it leaves very little space for the chief of staff,” said a Republican briefed on the conversation. “Mark whined to Mick, ‘why didn’t you warn me before I accepted the job? There’s nothing for me to do.’”
