Yeah, you must be in that WOKE group. I have helped complete strangers on a trip and fall many times.

What you are really supposed to do is fold your arms and smile as they pick themselves up. At least that is the conservative way.... bootstraps and other what sayings.

Sometimes helping a falling person recover has pleasant after effects.

I remember years ago walking back to the office after lunch in the Melbourne CBD. It was a 105f and I was really looking forward to getting back to the aircon. As I walked along I came to a freshly patched section of soft asphalt. As I crossed it a lady just ahead of me stepped into the soft asphalt and her spike heel sunk in, her foot came out and she fell to her left, right into my arms.

As I caught her my arm went up under her crop top and my hand caught one of her 'girls'. There was no purpose to it - I wasn't being a perv - it was just the way she fell and my automatic attempt to keep her from face planting into the sidewalk. We recovered her shoe without damage, she thanked me profusely for catching her, and brushed off my apology for getting 'too familiar'. Turns out she owned a little cafe a block or so from the office and I was never allowed to pay for coffee when I visited.

That was just one memorable example of probably hundreds of tripping people of all ages I have helped in one way or another, I can't imagine anyone on the planet hasn't gotten to a 'certain age' without doing the same thing over and over and over or even thinking it is unusual. It is just one of those things that as a human you do.

Well, they do seem to struggle with the idea of a professional doing their job, so it does not surprise me that they would not recognize it there.
