As this appears to be outrage by progressives, let's not forget the fawning and gleeful commentary leading up to the 2016 election by Morning Joe. MSNBC aired HOURS of Trump, Trump Rallies and hosted Trumpers for commentary. NOW they're all appalled?! Remember Shake and Bake Chicken commercials, Joe and Mika? Yeah, you helped.

Which is why I wouldn't watch them. Until today. Today was the first time I ever had MSNBC on during their time slot (for some reason Mika wasn't (isn't?) there this morning (or anymore?).
I never found them to be very insightful anyway, so it's not that I really watched them before they put Trump on. But once they started fawning all over Trump that was just disgusting.

Mrs ado and I are providing CNN with some feedback. It was her idea.
We used these dropdown selections...
Topic: Editorial Feedback
Feedback: CNN Shows
Then specify it is for the Trump Town Hall.

Here is what I posted. It's not very well written, but I'm working on lunch with mom, don't have time to clean it up. I think it's OK though.
It was irresponsible and frankly, insulting, to allow what basically became a "Trump Rally" on prime time CNN programming. It is well known that Donald Trump does not believe that any rules of decorum apply to him. Not only that, his supporters, which the audience was basically limited to, just LOVE the fact that Trump spews obnoxious lies and insulting opinions and egg him on. I would have no problem with a town hall involving Nikki Haley (who I cannot stand) or Asa Hutchinson (who I almost cannot stand). Or pretty much ANY other person running on the Republican ticket (most of whom I cannot stand). The reason I would have no problem is because they don't just spew poo like Donald Trump. In fact, I would have no problem if you put a monkey on air for 79 minutes doing nothing but throwing it's own do-do on stage, because at least that is acceptable behavior for a monkey.

3.1 Million Viewers Watch CNN’s Trump Town Hall
Mark Joyella - Senior Contributor
May 11, 2023,02:30pm EDT
CNN took a rare ratings victory in prime time Wednesday night, with the network’s town hall featuring former President Donald Trump drawing 3.1 million viewers, according to early overnight Nielsen ratings. From 8 p.m. t0 9:15 p.m., CNN was the most-watched cable news network, more than doubling the ratings of Fox News (1.4 million viewers) and MSNBC (1.37 million viewers).
CNN held on to first place into the 9 p.m. ET hour, with an average audience of 2.03 million viewers, just ahead of Fox News Channel’s 1.93 million viewers and MSNBC’s 1.36 million viewers. By 10 p.m. ET, CNN had fallen back into its familiar third-place slot, delivering an audience of 1.2 million viewers, compared to MSNBC’s 1.6 million viewers and FNC’s 1.8 million viewers.
In the key demographic of adults 25-54, the group most valued by advertisers, CNN dominated the 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. ET time slot, with a total audience of 703,000 viewers. MSNBC was second with 155,000 viewers and Fox News was third with 125,000 viewers. At 9:00 ET, CNN dropped to 399,000 viewers but remained in first place, with Fox News in second with 194,000 viewers and MSNBC third with 155,000 viewers. At 10 p.m. ET CNN just barely edged out Fox News for first place with 238,000 viewers, followed by FNC (236,000 viewers) and MSNBC (142,000 viewers).

I’ll be watching the next week’s ratings to see how this changes. Disheartening to say the least if it climbs.

Everyone didn't see how terrible he is. Maybe Licht watched a different Town Hall than I did, as much as I made it through, but there was a lot of applause and laughter (at inappropriate times, such as when tfg discussed E. Jean Carroll) from the crowd. Normalized. The least they could have done would be to have some non-supporters of tfg in the audience to balance out the crazies. It was basically a tfg rally on CNN. Which is bullshit.

Mrs ado sent hers off right away, but we had a time-sensitive project to do, so I just got mine off.
Here's what I sent, for what it's worth.
I am frankly appalled.
CNN has allied itself squarely with the forces that seek to overturn democracy in the United States by broadcasting Trump's Town Hall to a national audience on May 10.
The Town Hall gave Trump a platform to continue spewing his lies and defamation with little opposition in front of an adoring audience.
The New York Times reports that CNN Chairman Mr. Licht has stated “I absolutely, unequivocally believe America was served very well by what we did last night. [...] And if someone was going to ask tough questions and have that messy conversation, it damn well should be on CNN.”
This is completely untrue. Few tough questions were asked. The forum was ineffective in rebutting his lies. The Town Hall was essentially an echo chamber for Trump, an infomercial magnifying the reach of his divisive and corrupt rhetoric.
CNN should be ashamed.
I expected better of you.

I saw this on discord and I honestly don't know who wrote it other than "a random reddit user." But it deserves to be read. Warning its lenghty and includes *shock* bad language. I'll throw it under a spoiler. basically you should just pick and choose from this when dealing with assholes, becasue its gone beyond a joke at this point.
► Show Spoiler
He had 20-something sexual assault allegations against him before taking the white house, his ex-wife accused him of raping her in the 90s and the case was settled (he paid her to drop the charges, certainly wasn't exonerated), but didn't stop Trump's lawyer from saying its legal to rape your spouse, and he was on tape saying he could grab any woman by the pussy because he was famous. Hes on radio shows talking about his daughters tits and talked about fucking his own daughter.
And all of that - all of that - was publicly known before a single vote for him was cast in 2016.
From the first moment this oozing anal pustule set foot in the White House, there isn't an adult with a brain who wasn't aware that this man is a fucking gropey rapist.
As it always is with Trump supporters, before sexual assault was proven in court his slack-jawed brainwashed followers will claim nothing was ever PROVEN, so we must consider him TOTALLY INNOCENT. This benefit of the doubt, of course, is never extended to anyone outside their fascist ideological circle.
[8:54 PM]
But now that at least one Jury has found Trump guilty of sexual assault - a thing that, remember, he literally bragged about doing on a tape we all heard ten years ago - his supports will just deflect, deny, dodge, and bury their own heads deeper into the asshole of their own delusion, because it's never been about reality for them.
So his voters, and his supporters, and his staffers, and all the people that had decades of giant flashing neon signs in their faces demonstrating to them what a rapey piece of shit he is, can shove their revisionist saving-grace bullshit news articles up their own assholes. They can spare the fake fucking moralizing, they can drop the facade of ignorance.
They. All. Knew.
And this tendency - this ability for the people who work for Trump and profit off Trump and vote for Trump to look blind-eyed at the massive mountains of proof of how evil and criminal and incompetent he is - it is a well-worn theme. It doesn't just stop at sexual assault.
This pants-shitting trash fire served the most, dismal, incompetent four year presidency this or perhaps any other nation has ever witnessed.
[8:55 PM]
He committed numerous crimes publicly and in full view of the public, including drawing in marker on a federal weather map and lying on camera to the American public about the path of a hurricane because he didn't want to be wrong.
He attacked his own virologist during a deadly pandemic in which one million American lives - a majority of whom were his supporters - died gasping for breath as this shit-eating baby brained monster encouraged people to drink bleach and take horse worm pills.
He sabotaged his own pandemic response for no other reason than because he's an impetuous, emotionally-crippled attention-addicted child who wanted all the praise and glory despite not having any remote capacity to earn it.
He licked Putin's boots on live TV in front of the entire world by going up on stage with him and siding with Putin against his own fucking FBI.
[8:55 PM]
Back the blue, amirite MAGA army? Back law enforcement, unless Trump decides to throw them under the bus to appease a diminutive psychopathic dictator from a far weaker rival nation because said dictator has Trump by the precious little balls?
He lead a frothing mob of supporters to the capital building who were chanting "hang Mike Pence" while wheeling a life-sized gallows up to where he was currently working.
Yes, he incited a mob to hang and murder his own VP because that VP would not falsely declare the election for Trump.
His supporters broke into the US Capitol as the members of congress were certifying an election and smeared their own shit on the walls.
He promised he would save them, and instead many of them are now in federal prison and Donald Trump didn't donate a fucking penny to a single one of them because he doesn't fucking care. But that hasn't stopped him from promising he'll pardon them if he gets reelected in 2024.
[8:56 PM]
He has also made clear he's not only evil, but so fucking grossly incompetent he would self sabotage out of the incapability of foresight or hindsight.
He went on national news and bragged about "acing" his dementia test while also telling Chris Wallace how "tough" it was. It is not a test that can possibly be failed if you don't have dementia. It's not meant to be challenging. You can't "ace" it. You can only be found to have dementia or to not have dementia.
Here's a video of him bragging about acing his dementia test.
Yet that entire preposterous, surreal, absurdist fever dream is what struck this bloated ass-faced bag of turds as a "good idea" and "great PR."
It has been clear what caliber of creature Trump is for decades. Nothing he did in four years as President did literally anything to change that image. He acted exactly as it was clear he would every miserable day he disgraced that office, right up to his failed coup against the nation and his theft of classified national secrets as he slunk out the back door in disgrace and defeat.
(edited)
[8:56 PM]
Everyone who works for this fat sack of dogshit is culpable. Every trash ass news station that gives him a second of time on the air waves out of greedy minded profit is culpable.
Donald Trump is a fucking monster. It is beyond debate. Beyond contestation. Beyond doubt. He's a degenerate, racist, rapey sack of shit. No amount of his father's money can coat that rancid anthropomorphic pile of vomit in any degree of grace or humanity. He's spent nearly 80 years on this Earth being a dumb, violent, vile, greedy, rapey sack of shit. Every single day is a new chance for him to provide more evidence in what a fucking degenerate, dim monster he is, and every day he rises to that occasion.
Fuck his rapist ass and fuck every degenerate profiteer and opportunist that continues to cling to his shit-stained coattails as lives out the last shred of his miserable life flailing about in each moment as desperate for attention as a man dying in the desert is for a drop of water.
If you use him for profit you're culpable. If you support him you're culpable. If you vote for him you're culpable, if you defend him you're culpable.
[8:56 PM]
We all told you in 2015 this is exactly who he would be and he was never, for one single fucking second, anything else. We told Trump supporters he'd fail to deliver. We told them he'd sabotage himself because he's not intellectually capable of doing anything otherwise. We told them he'd rip them off, use and abuse them, profit off of them and abandon them, and he did, over and over and over again, and despite that, there are still cultists in the cult.
This is fucking madness. It was madness in 2015 that this idiot fascist imbecile could be made President. It was beyond madness that he was made President, it was transcendentally mad he came close to being made President again in 2020.
Now he's running again, and every shit-eating news station is giving him a platform and legitimacy to make a quick buck, and we are telling you again, that if you vote for this undeniably stupid, rapey octogenarian monster for leader of the nation, there will simply not be a nation left at the end of that road. And he will skate off with all your money, and you will be left drooling in the ash heap because you were too greedy, too hateful, and too willfully, blindly ignorant to work even in your own self interest.
[8:57 PM]
The average Trump supporter will, in one breath, tell you how he needs a basement full of guns to save him from the tyranny of "big government", while going on to hero-worship a fascist, failed-real-estate-fuckup-turned-politician who definitely finds most of his own supporters 'disgusting' and who used and abused the highest office in the land to profit himself, personally, while making life markedly worse most especially for the very people who voted for him.
You want to talk Orwellian? A Trump supporter is the embodiment of doublethink:
“Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.”
You want to talk Orwellian?
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

Trump’s team revels in town hall victory as CNN staff rages at ‘spectacle of lies’
Questions also linger over what the network offered the ex-president in exchange for what some called a Trump infomercial
Hugo Lowell in Washington
Fri 12 May 2023 10.00 BST
Donald Trump believes he got everything that he wanted from the controversial town hall hosted by CNN, according to multiple people close to him, even as it embarrassed the network and prompted a wave of outrage, including from many of its own staff who were upset that it gave Trump a platform to lie to a large audience.
The former president was interested in doing a town hall mainly because it would give the campaign material to clip for social media. He was interested in doing it on CNN because the campaign reached an understanding – which a spokesperson denied – that it would book more Trump surrogates.
Trump was not particularly concerned by whether the broadcast would get high ratings, though he told CNN’s chief executive, Chris Licht, backstage that he would boost their ratings, to which Licht nodded and said he should have “a good conversation and have fun”, two of the people said.
Trump’s advisers saw the town hall ultimately as a strategic win for the former president, who revelled in playing off the live audience of Republican and Republican-leaning voters in New Hampshire, which is hosting the first 2024 GOP presidential primary, and talked over the CNN moderator, Kaitlan Collins, as she tried to factcheck him in real time.
