Donald Trump and his family failed to report nearly $300,000-worth of gifts they received from foreign governments between 2017 and 2020, including a “larger-than-life-sized painting” of the former president that may currently reside at his Mar-a-Lago resort, according to a new report by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee and supporting documents obtained by CNN.

Over 100 gifts from foreign officials, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, with a total value of over a quarter of a million dollars, were never disclosed to the State Department by Trump and members of his immediate family as required by law, the report says.

House Democrats say the discovery of these unreported foreign gifts, including 17 from Saudi Arabia with a total value of more than $48,000, “raises significant questions about why former President Trump failed to disclose these gifts to the public” and whether they may have been used to influence US policy under the previous administration. The report does not provide any specific evidence that US policy was influenced by the gifts.

Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, told CNN that the fact these items were never reported and some are now missing “suggests serious violations of the foreign Emoluments Clause.”

“That part of the Constitution is America’s original anti-bribery law,” Raskin said, noting lawmakers could make criminal referrals if there is evidence to warrant doing so.

“But in truth, Congress on a bipartisan basis needs to legislate to build meaningful enforcement mechanisms into the Emoluments Clause,” he added. “This will force us to recover the wisdom of the framers who were emphatic that people in public office, not be on the take from foreign governments.”
Hardly a surprise.

Trump calls for all J6 defendants to be released from prison immediately, saying they are victims of a “radical left con job.”

Former US president Donald Trump has posted to YouTube and Facebook, in a return to the tech platforms he used to power his political rise until he was cut off following the January 6 attack on Congress by his followers.

Key points:

Meta Platforms reinstated Mr Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts earlier this year
His Twitter account was reinstated in November but Mr Trump has yet to post on Twitter
His return allows him to reach a combined 146 million followers across three major tech platforms as he makes another run for presidency in 2024

If prosecutors are smart, they'll arrest him Monday to avoid whatever protestors he's able to summon for Tuesday...

How many are counted multiple times cause they have an account on each platform? How many bots are linked as follower on all platforms?

Make the math and deflate his ego. Maybe 40 millions of actual flesh and bone followers (ignoring possible cat and dog accounts  )

Never had it, but Danraft isn't a fan. He says it's the fruitcake of cinnamon rolls.

They probably can't as it looks like they've made arrangements with Trump to turn himself in that day. Which, I believe, is par for the course in high-profile cases (or really any case where a person is informed a warrant is issued and voluntarily turns themselves in for arraignment).

No link, but heard on air this morning that 1) GJ meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, so the earliest an indictment could come down is Monday. 2) There is one more witness testifying on Monday, then DA will argue for indictment.

Mug shots should be fun

Of course it would be amusing if of all the things this criminal has crimed, he gets it for the Daniels payment.

No link yet, but reported on MSNBC that McCarthy tweeted in support of DFO, calling it "an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA." Wants congressional committees to investigate.
