Yeah, at the time when he was in the WH. But he has no political capital. Why do you think all his guests dried up fast at our our Old DC Post Office hotel once he was booted out of office?
I am positive that the Services menu for function bookings includes a line item for Trump appearances. He isn't crashing anything, even though it may well be staged to look like he is.
I dunno, I can't see him walking past a crowded room without stopping to be worshipped.
It is a mandatory fee. 
I suspect that a lot of people who book events at Mar-a-Lago do so, HOPING that he will crash the event.
