Asked about Loomer at this news conference, Trump said only that she is a "supporter" and that he was unaware of recent comments she made about Harris, or her comments about 9/11.

“I don’t control Laura. Laura has to say what she wants. She’s a free spirit," he added.

Several prominent members of Donald Trump's MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement are urging the former president to cut ties with controversial activist Laura Loomer, with one ally in Congress accusing the former Florida House candidate of making "appalling and extremely racist" remarks.

The anger came after Loomer was pictured with Trump at two 9/11 memorial events on Wednesday after she posted a racially charged diatribe aimed at Vice President Kamala Harris on X, formerly Twitter.

Loomer's relationship with Trump has long infuriated some of his closest allies and there was open dissent in April 2023 when The New York Times reported the former president was considering hiring the Florida Republican.

Trump ended up not giving Loomer a job, but on Wednesday she was seen in his entourage during visits to New York and Pennsylvania to mark the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.



Akshat Bhatia, a Republican who is running for mayor of the city of Irvine, California, responded to Loomer's initial post, saying: "I am conservative die heart [sic] Trump supporter and I agree on most of your posts but I feel like this is an unnecessary racial post on thousands of conservative Indian Trump supporters. This is how you turn conservative Indian Trump supporters to liberal democrats."

Yeah, but the quadfectee's comments today make it clear that 1) Loomer is not being restricted in any way in what she says, and 2) she supports him and he supports her.

Oh, and 3) he has no idea what she has said or done that could possibly be controversial.

So do NOT expect her to vanish from his ambit. He's going through a stressful time. He needs people who really love and support him right now.

Trump has been devoting a lot of time and attention to a particular superfan:

Zoom in: Loomer, a twice-failed congressional candidate in Florida, is frequent guest of Trump’s at Mar-a-Lago, has called the 9/11 attacks an “inside job,” and described herself as a “proud Islamophobe.” She has 1.2 million followers on X.

She has spent significant time with the ex-president this week, flying on his plane to the debate in Philadelphia and appearing with him on the sidelines of the 9/11 memorial ceremonies in New York City and Shanksville, Penn., on Wednesday.

Her presence at the 9/11 ceremonies in particular drew groans from several Republicans who back Trump. “I don’t understand what the issue is about me going to the 9/11 memorial,” Loomer told CNN, adding that those at the ceremony were “very happy to see me.”

Critics also noted that this week, Loomer was among those making false posts on X about immigrants killing and eating dogs and cats in Ohio — a claim that Trump made in Tuesday’s debate.

The Trump-Loomer admiration fest is well documented. He’s given her shout-outs while on stage at his rallies, and sent her handwritten notes in response to her tweets.

“Laura — I hear you! Sounds good to me,” Trump wrote in August 2023 next to a printed out Loomer tweet that read: “Traitors in your own camp is danger I will sniff them all out in 2025.”

If I were Trump's staff, the ones who are still somewhat attached to consensus reality, I would be very concerned about when Loomer decides to tell Trump that Thiel and Vance are planning to invoke the 25th Amendment after Trump is sworn in. "I am the only one you can trust, Mr President!"
