The point is, even if it was an outright lie, if it had spread far enough, people would have voted for Trump instead of Biden.

You're right of course. We are living in a post-truth world.

In a legal sense, however, even if someone does have Hunter Biden's laptop, it has such a sketchy chain of custody that it is probably worthless as evidence in court.

Of course, they don't care about court. They care about firing up their base and getting elected, honestly if possible, but by hook or by crook if not.

If the FBI has the laptop, the question becomes, who had it before they did? Again, I think that a competent defense lawyer could make a very strong chain of custody argument.

Well the guy who Hunter Biden flew 4000 miles to drop off 3 laptops at, gave them to the FBI. Who had them before that is anyones guess since he made a copy of the hard drives and gave that copy to Rudy.

And he cant 100% say it was hunter since he is legally blind. Cant see more than 8 inches in front of his face.

Ya no idiot can tell me why Hunter dropped off laptops to a trump supporting repairman in his fathers town when he lives in California.

I don't believe the Washington Post really verified any part of the data they got as coming from Hunter Biden’s, or anybody else's laptop.

They said they verified that some of the emails they saw were authentic, which is a very different story. They didn't say those emails were found on anything belonging to Hunter Biden. They said there was no way to authenticate what they were given as being an accurate copy of anything.

If anybody wants arrests or court proceedings of any kind, under our court system they're going to need reliable evidence, and there isn't any reliable evidence.

But if they just want to say ugly shit on Fox News and in congressional hearings, then that's okay.

Its complete bullshit, completly insane on its face. PLUS, the repairman has said he keeps seeing things that are claimed to be from the Laptop that never were on it.

This may have been mentioned before, maybe even by me, but it puts me in mind of the Marilyn Manson debacle. Somebody had it out for manson, made up a Manson sounding Gmail address, loaded the emails full of child abuse and turned him in. The cops took the complaint seriously, arrived at Manson's house with search warrants to take all of his electronic devices and when they got back to the station and started going through them, found zero evidence Manson had ever used that email.

I don't think the Washington Post ever verified that what they received came from Roodles. Did they say that? I seem to remember that someone anonymous mailed it to them. But I'm fuzzy on that one.
