Never mind that, in college, you get to learn what socialism really is. It is not the bogeyman that it is portrayed as being on Faux News. On Faux, anything that does not portray socialism as the work of the devil and socialists as baby-eating subversives, hell-bent on the destruction of our way of life, is simply seen as more left-wing propaganda.

The Constitution does not require the speaker to be an incumbent member of the House of Representatives, although every speaker thus far has been.

The Newsweek article repeats what Jim said, but it points out that some scholars believe it was intended to be an elected official. We may soon find out.

McCarthy will no doubt increase his support of Gaetz over the next two years based on this brilliant ploy.

I'm thinking that his 'idea' is that they get him in as Speaker then impeach and remove Biden and Harris. At minimum, he said it because he wants Trump to see how much he can suck up.

Interesting trivia on the US Code. While the requirements for Speaker are not there (thus leaving it up to the House rules per the Constitution), it mentions on the succession that the Speaker becomes acting President upon their resignation of the speakership and the representative seat. At least when they wrote that law, they anticipated that the Speaker would be rep.

I can see a plausible argument that CONGRESS and not just the house would have to pass a law outlining the parameters of the office for a non-elected, non-voting speaker. Pay, staff, term, office space. Etc.

Republicans win back the House of Representatives = bad thing.

Republicans in the House elect The Former Asshole to be Speaker of the House = good thing

But he knows nothing about the very intricate and complex rules and procedures in the House. Is there a chance he might actually study and learn a lot about how to successfully do the job of Speaker?

B. make Trump Speaker,
III. impeach, convict, and remove Biden & Harris,

And as a non-representative speaker, I don't think the Speech and Debate clause would protect him. It says it only protects representatives and senators.

In reading the document on the 116th Congress rules, they appear to agree. Those who are not a Representative or Senator are not protected.

I find it unexpected that folks on the right come up with things to do that they claim the left was going to do with Obama.
