It's really despicable how they are using this deceptively edited video. I listened to RWNJ radio this morning on a couple stations, and they were all over how this was elder abuse, how bad they feel for Biden (ha!), and how angry they are that "his handlers" "allow" him to be "abused" in this way. Also, they did chapter and verse on how this is the DEFINITIVE signal that Biden is done in the Democratic Party and THE CLEAR SIGN that he is to be ignored going forward.

What a bunch of asshats.

Ethics Committee hasn't said what it is about to my knowledge, but Jackson's office claims it is campaign finance issues. FWIW.

1. With predators, it's never their first rodeo. This guy didn't lead a life of righteous probity and suddenly decide to do this for the first time. He had done this before or has done stuff that led to this point incrementally.

2. Only the best people...

3. At least Governor Ivey or her AG didn't try to defend him or claim this was a liberal plot, like any number of Republicans would.

4. Is it just me, it do others feel like they are looking into the eyes of soulless evil with the mug shot?

I prefer to think of it as the existential horror of realizing what they do to child molesters in prison.

For Salt Lake County Republicans, warnings of voter fraud came from inside the party on Saturday. The vote to nominate a GOP candidate for Salt Lake County Clerk was marred when a pair of delegates were caught attempting to vote more than once, with one extra vote making it into a ballot box at Saturday’s county nominating convention.

The extra vote did not impact the outcome, as Goud Maragani easily won the nod from delegates over Nancy Lord. After the two cheaters were caught, the remaining delegates voted to expel them from their positions within the party. Republican officials said they planned to press charges, but it’s unclear what laws may have been broken since Saturday’s vote was conducted as part of a private organization and not a governmental entity.

Saturday’s attempted ballot box stuffing at the Republican convention was more election fraud than has been proven in Utah’s entire 2020 election.

A bridge too far... He did eventually resign, although the VA Governor had to tweet calling for it before he finally did.
Republican Party of Hampton Reiterates Request for the Resignation of David Dietrich from his Position as Electoral Board Member
April 7, 2022
Late last week, the Republican Party of Hampton was made aware of a Facebook post from David Dietrich, a Hampton Electoral Board Member. In the post, Mr. Dietrich uses abhorrent and unacceptable racist language that has no place in our Party or our Commonwealth.
Immediately after learning of the Facebook post, the Republican Party of Hampton demanded Mr. Dietrich’s resignation. In light of Mr. Dietrich’s refusal to resign, the Hampton City Republican Party has asked the chief judge of the Hampton Circuit Court, the appointing authority for all electoral board members, to remove Mr. Dietrich from his position.
The Hampton City Republican Party unequivocally condemns all forms of racism and bigotry, and specifically condemns the language employed by Mr. Dietrich.
The FB post in question, be forewarned, it is nasty:

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A former Indiana state senator pleaded guilty Monday to receiving about $40,000 in illegal contributions from a casino company for his unsuccessful 2016 congressional campaign.

Former Republican Sen. Brent Waltz's guilty plea came about one week before he was set to stand trial with John Keeler, a former top executive of Indianapolis-based Spectacle Entertainment. Keeler is charged with directing illegal corporate contributions through straw donors to Waltz’s campaign.

Waltz’s plea agreement, in which he also admitted to making false statements to the FBI, makes no mention of cooperating with prosecutors or testifying against Keeler. Waltz and his attorney, Russell Johnson, declined to answer questions after Monday’s hearing, The Indianapolis Star reported.

It took long enough. After the South Dakota AG avoided being charged for killing a man with his car the South Dakota state house impeached him. It took 28 Republicans to vote with the 8 democrats to impeached. 31 Republicans voted against it. Now the question is will the senate vote to convict

Attendee at Chuck Grassley’s town hall asks him why we are against Putin since he is fighting the problems of Nazis, biolabs, pedophelia, and Deep State corruption in Ukraine. No John McCain moment correcting him coming from Grassley. Of course.

The Republican National Committee voted unanimously Thursday in favor of withdrawing from the Commission on Presidential Debates. "The Commission on Presidential Debates is biased and has refused to enact simple and commonsense reforms to help ensure fair debates including hosting debates before voting begins and selecting moderators who have never worked for candidates on the debate stage," RNC chair Ronna McDaniel said in a press release.

"Today, the RNC voted to withdraw from the biased CPD, and we are going to find newer, better debate platforms to ensure that future nominees are not forced to go through the biased CPD in order to make their case to the American people," she added. "Debates are an important part of the democratic process, and the RNC is committed to free and fair debates."

The Republican Party for nearly a decade has complained that the nonprofit debate commission — which has described itself as nonpartisan — has favored Democrats, according to the New York Times. Last year, McDaniel warned CPD that the RNC would advise future Republican candidates against participating in CPD-hosted debates unless "significant reforms" were made. In January, the RNC reiterated their position by sending a letter to the CPD threatening to block future GOP presidential nominees from sanctioned debates if "meaningful reforms" are not made.

I have never been a fan of the CPD, because they give too much control to the parties. I think the repubs are upset that such control is not absolute in their hands.

I think we should return to having the League of Women Voters run the debates. And the league should set the dates and locations of the debates and tell the parties "This is when and where the debates will be. This is how many there will be. The TV networks have agreed to cover them. Show up, don't show up. Its your choice. A coin flip will determine who speaks first. If you don't show up, your opponent will have more time".
