Not sure how hiding under my desk was going to do any good, but sure gave me nightmares. And those were from the imagining of adults. Now, children actually hear and see these terrors played in front of them. How they cope long term, I have no idea. Heartbreaking!
My chemistry teacher had a poster on inside of the store room door, where almost no one would see it.

It gave the all the standard procedures for self protection:
  • Move away from the windows
  • get under your desk
  • put your head between your knees
  • kiss your ass goodbye

I have been seeing 2 or 3 posts like this every day for weeks from all over Texas. Usually the increases are more than 4% but Humble is a wealthy suburban North of Houston so their teacher pay scale was probably well above average already.

One (of many) things that bug me about the reporting on Uvalde is they keep saying the School Chief told the other cops to stand down because he believed the active shooting was over. Even IF that was true, what would be the reasoning behind just leaving the shooter alone? Did he have some sort of plan to go in eventually? Was he going to wait until the shooter died of hunger? Was he planning to just contain the shooter until.....something?

Saying he thought the active shooting was over just doesn't make sense to me.

Watch how an Q
@NRA
board member attempts to dodge questions about mass shootings.
@Acosta
asked “Isn’t some of this blood on NRA’s hands?” #Uvalde #UvaldeschoolMassacre

“The
@NRA
has to look into its soul…and see what can be done for these kids. These kids who keep dying over and over and over” says
@Acosta
to NRA board member. Acosta also held up page of
@nytimes
with list of mass shooting involving #AR15s. #UvaldeMassacre #Shooter
Edit: Adding part two of interview.

I turned on Fox for a couple of minutes, one of the more *serious* news shows. Headline at the bottom was why didn't Biden also go to the border?

They have any "SERIOUS" shows? :?

I love how they think our officials have zero information on the border issues unless they visit...

That was a difficult read, V.

Right now the parents and community are grieving, still in shock. When they return to their senses, they will be very.angry.people. I hope for their sakes this is a turning point in our national nightmare.

while channel surfing in the car yesterday, heard a fox host ask her guest that question. The guest said "No, I don't think that would be appropriate on this trip" .. not the answer the host expected...
