Obviously, that still leaves about $10 million unaccounted for. According to Reuters, Wilkerson’s whistleblower documents contained about $9.4 million in promissory notes that the outlet couldn’t identify the origins of.

Former President Donald Trump's launch of $99 digital NFTs failed to gin up excitement among investors in the Digital World Acquisition SPAC that is seeking to merge with Trump's Truth Social.

Shares of Digital World Acquisition initially spiked as much as 10% on Wednesday after Trump teased a "major announcement." The stock has had a knack for rallying ahead of anticipated Trump rallies and other developments related to his 2024 re-election bid.

But Digital World stock gave up all of those gains on Thursday after the "major announcement" turned out to be the launch of the 'Donald Trump Digital Trading Card Collection' at a time when the crypto and NFT market has been decimated.

"These limited edition cards feature amazing ART of my Life & Career! Collect all of your favorite Trump Digital Trading Cards, very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting... Only $99 each! Would make a great Christmas gift. Don't Wait. They will be gone, I believe, very quickly!" Trump posted on Truth Social.

Instead, investors likely wanted to hear from Trump either something related to his run for the US Presidency in 2024, or perhaps even more importantly, developments related to Truth Social and their pending merger with Digital World Acquisition.

The SPAC has so far been unable to obtain the necessary amount of shareholder votes to approve their proposed merger with Trump's social media company and Twitter competitor. Instead, the SPAC secured enough votes to delay its merger deadline with Truth Social until September 2023.

Designs for Donald Trump’s Truth Social operation to go public appear to be at risk yet again, Forbes reported Friday.

Three executives suddenly left the company charged with taking the former president’s Truth Social platform public amid investigations and market upheaval, according to Forbes. It was not immediately clear why they left.

The top-level departures, which included the chief financial officer, were revealed in filings of the Digital World Acquisition Corp., the special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) picked to move the social media platform into the big leagues.

The “slew of resignations” follows the departure of yet another board member who resigned in early November, Forbes reported. That was shortly before shareholders agreed to back a move to extend an early December deadline to complete the acquisition of Truth Social. It pushed the deadline to September 2023, which will be almost two years after the SPAC initially announced its deal to acquire Truth Social and take it public.

Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes lashed out at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) because his company does not have access to public funding while facing investigations over a proposed merger.

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo began her Wednesday interview with Nunes, a former Republican lawmaker, by repeating reports that former President Donald Trump was ending an exclusive deal with his Truth Social platform ahead of a return to Twitter.

'Scammed' users rage at Trump over 'misleading gimmicks' on Truth Social

Because major advertisers are avoiding Donald Trump's Truth Social, users are instead being exposed to a flood of ads from what the New York Times characterizes as "miracle cures, scams and fake merchandise," as the platform is forced to take what it can in an effort to survive.

That, in turn, has led to complaints aimed at the former president in his comment sections for allowing the forum to turn into a cesspool of ads from scam artists.

As the Times is reporting, Truth Social is almost devoid of ads from large corporations for a multitude of reasons that include the toxic rhetoric on the site, its small reach due to few users and the fact that the predominant demographic is not one that advertisers are trying to reach.

As the Times' Stuart Thompson wrote, "Ads from major brands are nonexistent on the site. Instead, the ads on Truth Social are for alternative medicine, diet pills, gun accessories and Trump-themed trinkets, according to an analysis of hundreds of ads on the social network by The New York Times," before adding, "The ads reflect the difficulty that several far-right platforms, including Rumble and Gab, have faced in courting large brands, preventing the sites from tapping into some of the world’s largest ad budgets."

Trump is a scam artist. What did they expect?
