It does seem very poorly executed so IMO, it's a good thing it was canceled.

No POCs pictured and no mention of the meaning of Juneteenth. Bad bad bad.

Is Juneteenth even a thing outside of Texas?

It most certainly is. It is a federal holiday.

Fun fact: Because of the time zone difference between the East Coast and GMT, we here at the US Embassy in London didn't find out we had the Friday off in observation of the Saturday holiday until COB Thursday. We had to scramble to call staff who had already left for the day and tell them not to come in.
I mean, we took the hit, of course. WE"RE NOT STUPID! It was a last minute thing, is basically what I'm saying.

We got a "floating holiday" to use whenever we wanted last year since it was a late in the game change. This year, I think it's on the Holiday calendar, so we'll have it off.Ben-Prime wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 2:26 pmFun fact: Because of the time zone difference between the East Coast and GMT, we here at the US Embassy in London didn't find out we had the Friday off in observation of the Saturday holiday until COB Thursday. Texas grand jury indicts three police officers for allegedly assaulting people during 2020 George Floyd protests
In February, the Dallas District Attorney's Office issued arrest warrants for Mabry and Williams.
Mabry was accused of shooting three people at the 2020 protests with a 40-millimeter launcher, which is referred to as "less lethal" ammunition. One of the victims lost an eye when he was shot. Mabry was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by a public servant and three counts of official oppression.
Williams allegedly shot three people with 40-millimeter launchers during the protests. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by a public servant, and four counts of official oppression.
According to the District Attorney's Office, the Dallas Police Department's protocol at the time of the incidents required officers who shot rounds of ammunition to collect the fired projectile if possible, get medical help for the person struck, notify a supervisor on the scene and conduct a report of the incident. The office said "none of these steps were taken."
Following the protests for George Floyd — a Black man killed by a White police officer in 2020 — the Dallas Police Department released a "critical self-analysis" that reviewed its "errors, miscalculations, and shortcomings" in handling the protests, according to CBS DFW.

Re: Racism back in fashion, did it ever fade?
Interesting the driver had a dash cam to record his rides. I wonder if it's a Lyft/Uber requirement, or a CYA he added after an incident.
Good on him for posting it.

Re: Racism back in fashion, did it ever fade?
I don't know if it is a requirement and I don't ride-share often (a couple times a month), but they all seem to have them. Not sure "dash cam" is the right term because they mount/clip under the rv mirror. They are inexpensive these days (~$100-150). Cheap for CYA insurance.
Re: Racism back in fashion, did it ever fade?
A few months ago here, an Uber driver, a young mother of several children, was murdered in the car. The camera caught it, and he was arrested several days later.

Fuck'em.
Don't obscure the phone number and post that note all over the web.
Oh yeah. Please ensure it really IS their phone number first.
And don't forget to notify the police that you are being harassed by someone who might turn into a dangerous stalker.
