Kevin McCarthy had a very different take on FBI investigations in 2016.

You'd think after all this time Kevin would be into self-preservation. First it's people pushing Trump to take his dream job as speaker of the house. Now it's Gaetz pushing Jim Jordan for Kevin's job. Seriously these republicans have no balls.

McCarthy: The electric cord of liberty still sparks in our hearts

McCarthy: Joe Biden and the DOJ launched a raid on the home of Donald Trump. That is an assault on democracy.

And *that* is an assault on the intelligence of most Americans (well, at least the non-RWNJ ones...)

It sounds like a lame reference to one of Republican's biggest areas of projection - the assault on personal liberty they constantly accuse Democrats of waging. Except, of course, every red state in this nation has passed a slew of laws designed to take away personal liberties we used to have.

Democrats really should invest in billboards and one of the things I want to see on billboards across this nation is a list of all the personal freedoms Republican legislatures have taken away from the citizens of their states. And let's not forget the politicized Supreme Court that has taken away rights and freedoms.

They raided the HOME of the US PRESIDENT. An ATTACK on democracy. Except of course, democracy = bad, constitutional republic = good.

McCarthy: The electric cord of liberty still sparks in our hearts

The Republican umbilican cord is defective, it's shorting out, will soon blow up in a puff of smoke

It's bad writing by bad writers, that's all.

Indicative of the level or professionalism in the Republican party. cf TFG's inability to hire people who are, y'know, actually good at their jobs.

I wish that meant the fools and criminals were losing; alas, to me it supports the idea that they are winning.

If the electric cord is sparking, something is badly wrong. Step away.

Too, also, another indication McCarthy hasn't a clue.

The real tragedy is that after an illiterate moment like that, there will never be the follow-up moment where Kevin looks at himself in the mirror, criticizes himself as stupid, and decides he is unworthy to be Speaker of the House if the GOP take the goods in November.

The radiator of liberty warms our souls but burns our hands.
The dehumidifier of freedom still dries our tears.
The post-it notes of patriotism still stick with our words.
The floppy disk of freedom still saves our forgotten dreams.

 I don’t care, but could he have meant “chord”, with electric meaning, you know, inspiring?

“The sweet chord of liberty electrified him.”

Or something

Anyone else enjoying McCarthy sweat at finally having the Speakership within his grasp and now even if he does get it, the nuts in his party are going to make his life miserable? :violin: :violin: :violin:

In my crystal ball I see the wingnut caucus having too much power to have a McCarthy speakership. I don't think it will happen. That's my prediction. FoxNews says the wingnuts are putting up Biggs, then they will all settle on Jordan, god help us. But yeah, I think the R's control of the House is going to be slim enough that the wingnut caucus will be able to block them at every turn.

So as I understand it, it's a 50% + 1 vote for the Speaker, right? So if the margin of R over D is low enough, it looks like the final winner is going to have to be a compromise candidate that can pull in D votes. Or am I missing something?
