Dr. Curry isn't exaggerating. It is awful here in Arkansas. Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson is traveling the state holding community meetings encouraging vaccination, but won't mandate masks.

So far around here, the numbers are still good, but I am considering wearing a mask indoors again. I was out today, and I still saw people wearing masks. I'm not afraid of dying from it anymore, but I don't want to get sick either, nor do I want to get anybody else sick. Delta is a whole different animal in terms of transmissibility.

I’m picking on Kristi Noem just because, but there are any number of Republicans saying this. And it just doesn’t make sense. You react to the situation, not just in Covid, in all things. China starts getting aggressive in waters that aren’t theirs, we send a ship. Crime rises on the south side, we change things and address that. Covid numbers go up, we we institute more restrictions. I mean, good grief. It’s not inconsistency.

I sometimes wonder if they are just stupid. It's a frigging virus, so it will mutate and continue to do so until the majority of the world's population is vaccinated. Meanwhile, the anti-vaxers will continue to be hosts and spreaders for new variants.

2021 population of Kristi Noem's South Dakota - 886,667

Death from Covid in South Dakota - 2,041

886,667 / 2,041 = 434

So 1 out of every 434 South Dakotans has died from this virus.

I don't think I'll look to Noem for advice.

Yeah, went to Home Depot here in palm beach county this morning, I only saw one other person wearing a mask. I got in and out as quickly as I could.

gonna have to get back to going grocery shopping no more than once a week, and doing it at 7AM before the assholes non-maskers are out and about.

My son sat in the ER for 9 hours last night and never did get the test he was supposed to.

MS had 1900+ new cases yesterday.

Fuck the unvaxxed.

Seriously, I’m pretty onboard with overburdened hospitals turning away the unvaccinated for Covid treatment in favor of, well, anything else.

The way things are going we may have to make our drive back to Texas during a Covid peak.

Sigh. Things were supposed to get better this summer.

While writing the above WLNG reported that Long Island's positivity rate is now one of the highest in New York.
