Yes, however if you live in hurricane country on a barrier island where the highest elevation is 7 feet you really need to plan some way to evacuate.

You know there's only 1 bridge to Grand Isle, and maybe 1000 residents. I think they're in Jeff Parish too, and weren't told to evacuate.

Local station WWLTV just reported that 22 barges have broken away from their moorings. One has already hit and damaged a bridge.

Zeta was a 3 hour storm, Ida is a 24 hour storm. The eye still hasn't disintegrated.

Water main breaks, 250K gallons an hour, boil water alerts, backflooding, transmission towers down. Heavy rain still in New Orleans, while the center is slowly moving there are still a lot of bands.

22 barges have broken loose at Chalmette. There whereabouts are not currently known.

Sewer and Water Board has lost its utility supplied electric power. Continues to operate pumps using its own generators.

One of Thibodaux hospital's generators failed requiring relocation of ICU patients to another floor in the building.

Roofs of New Orleans municipal and traffic court buildings have been destroyed.

Despite making landfall many hours ago, Hurricane Ida remains dangerous - its slow down means places in its path are experiencing dangerous heavy rain and flash flooding for a prolonged duration.
In the last 3 hours alone, over 8 inches of rain fell just west of New Orleans.

Port of South Louisiana-largest bulk cargo port in the world-was in strong right front eyewall of category 3 Hurricane Ida at 8-9 pm, when peak winds were estimated at 115-120 mph. Damage will likely shut down barge traffic for weeks with potential serious U.S. economic impact.

It is a horribly helpless feeling to know what's happening across the region and not be able to do anything about it. All you can do is hope that people are aware of what's coming next. Make every minute the best it can be. Eventually the minutes add up and the disaster is past.
