Looks like the Defense is angling for jury nullification
#TinaPetersTrial: Defense: You the jury, despite evidence & witnesses, it's critical, it's beautiful...YOU are the decision makers. You have the power, it's your sworn duty to seek out the truth. We submit you will find Clerk Peters not guilty.

Court TV allows YouTubers to feed off of their stream. I think they are required to leave the large Court TV logo in view at all times. Whenever I watch cases I tend to watch Law and Crime Network because they don't break in with their own commentary, it's just the feed from whatever the official video from court.Luke wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 4:49 pm Yeah, I'd put no stock in those people trying to stream without permission. But wasn't the Trump off the ballot case streamed? It seems like Colorado does broadcast some trials.
Wrote to 21selfhelp@judicial.state.co.us, the 21st Judicial District of Mesa County (although nobody does this betterer than REALIST!!). If I don't hear back, I'll call them tomorrow. I asked both about whether the trial would be broadcast, and how to access the docket.

Thought the same thing with all the rainbows and sparkles nonsense. But she presented it so poorly and condescendingly that even if they understood her meaning, they saw her being rude to the judge and substance-free. That plan backfired "bigly".Dave from down under wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 8:11 pm Looks like the Defense is angling for jury nullification

And when I hear Doug Frank's name, I think of Gregg and it makes me cry -- he used to walk Biscuit over to Doug's lawn so she could sh*t on it.

I found the prosecutions opening hard to follow--too many names and too much detail, none of which was tied together with oratorial skill.

Agree and it seemed even the judge thought it was a bit long, he called "10 minutes" near the end. They have a lot to get through with 10 crimes, it's a complex roadmap (all leading back to Mike Lindell). I bet the jury appreciated more detail vs. the defense's rainbows and sparkles "In our hearts" nonsense.
We also didn't have the benefit of all the slides -- I emailed Dave from KREX and asked 1) please move the camera a bit to the left so we don't keep seeing a dude's head in the corner, and 2) please zoom in on the exhibits better. It was KREX' first day so I'm sure they'll get better.

I thought the same. These were the shortest opening statements I've ever heard in a trial. I know the judge put a time limit on them, and it was a surprisingly limited amount of time allowed for opening.
After the judge let the jury go for the day he had a couple of things to admonish the lawyers about. Unfortunately, the feed got cut off so I didn't get all of it. But he was absolutely pissed off at the defense opening statement because he had specifically ruled that Peter's team cannot refer to the imposter that she brought in to break into those machines as an "informant". And during opening statements her out of state attorney did exactly that. He told the local attorney that he was holding him responsible for anything the lawyers he sponsored are saying. The feed got cut right after he said "number two" - so I don't know what the second issue that judge was going to mention. But he was certainly hot under the collar about it.
I think Peter's lawyer is going to try to get around the limitations the judge is trying to impose on them presenting their conspiracy theories to the jury. I'm sure they will find ways to phrase things to get around that limitation.

Ricky Schroder (now “Rick”), the former star of “Silver Spoons,” has showed up to the courthouse with a Bible reciting prayers, and the judge has already told members of the peanut gallery to STFU or get ejected, so you know it’s going to be a normal one.

I’m having fragmented flashbacks to weird GOP legal adjacent sideshows of the past. Was there an Oily Taint(sp?) who was somehow associated with dentistry?

At a break (maybe the end of the day?), some young fella came up to Tina and said he was pulling for her and shook her hand. Then Tina and he embraced. He looked to be about maybe 20, so he couldn't even vote (and was probably in high school) when she did her dirty deeds in 2021. Weird.

Holy cow. Gerald Wood was used and abused for sure. Interesting, given that he was an election denier himself, they apparently had no hesitation to use his identity for a badge and background check.
I give him credit for recognizing that the garbage given to him and the other "cyber experts" by Lindell was useless and proved nothing. Given his leanings he seemed to at least have some integrity in that regard.

Yes I think he said that once he saw the information at the Lindell cyber conference he realized it was b.s. OTOH he still asked for a ride home on Lindell's plane. Some people's head are really turned by that stuff (private planes).RVInit wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 5:29 pm Holy cow. Gerald Wood was used and abused for sure. Luke, you are doing an excellent job on the trial! I've had headphones on for quite a bit of the testimony, I think Tina Peters is in a bit of trouble here.

Well that was an eye-opening first two days of the trial, wasn't it?
Testimony of Gerald Wood was, as RV states, extraordinary. Tina and Co. used him to create a fake Key Card which they used to get their guy in and steal date / contaminate the machines. They turned off the cameras so there would be no record. Hearing this election denier, but clearly legit computer tech guy, tell his story, from his "election integrity" hobby, which led him into the sphere of LIndell and Tina and others, to believing he was being set up by the authorities, to realizing he had been set up by Tina and was _still_ being set up by Tina, was breathtaking.
Also breathtaking was the foundation for all of Tina's actions: she did not trust Dominion; they were devious, cheats, and out to corrupt the election. No one else would do anything, so it was her _duty_ to fight against Dominion and it's allies (her co-workers who were involved in running the election). Absolute madness.
Their defense? Two pronged: 1) Nothing was illegal because it's Tina's job to make sure there's no funny business going on. It wasn't illegal to turn off the cameras. It wasn't illegal to make a copy of the hard drive. 2) Wood was in on it (yes, they're still using him).
So here we are again. The parallel with how fuckhead deals with his crimes is clear. 1) It was fuckhead's job to make sure elections run smoothly. It wasn't illegal to call Raffensperger. 2) There was fraud going on that nobody else was dealing with. And he never threatened R; he just told the truth. 1) It was perfectly legal for him to take whatever records he wanted from the WH, 2) He was cooperating with the FBI; they're out to get him.
Tina and Belinda were caught dead to rights. They broke into a space that they were supposed to be protecting and breached the security of the machines. They planned it well in advance and conspired with others to carry out the plan.
It'll be interesting (as others have said) to see if the jury buys the "it was my job so I could break all the laws I wanted to do it" approach.
Hope not.
ETA: All built on the fantasy of election interference. All built on lies. This is insidious. This will destroy us.
