  It says the company should be held responsible for Lindell's election conspiracy theories.
  Dominion pointed out that Lindell is widely known as "the MyPillow guy."

Attorneys for Dominion Voting Systems have asked a judge to reject MyPillow's request to dismiss a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit over election conspiracy theories, arguing that the pillow company should be held responsible for spreading the false belief that Dominion rigged the 2020 election.

In a motion on Friday, Dominion argued that MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's falsehood-filled rants about the election were made in his capacity as the head of the company and were meant to juice the company's profits.

"Now, MyPillow claims that 'the MyPillow Guy' was not speaking for MyPillow when he gave speeches at MyPillow-sponsored rallies in Washington, D.C. or when he otherwise exploited election lies to market MyPillow products — which could be purchased on MyPillow's website using promo codes like 'FightforTrump,' 'QAnon,' 'Q,' and 'Proof,'" attorneys for Dominion wrote.

Just wanted to mention I was going to do one of my Facebook journal posts on Lindell's lawsuit from yesterday. I copied the link to the document but before I could post I got a warning from Facebook telling me if I posted fake news/misleading information, they would ghost me. Well, they didn't actually say ghost, they said they would push my post far down in the newsfeed where nobody would see it.

Interesting to speculate how many of his clients Beck is going to be able to take with him after being fired for such offensive stupidity. And even if he sensibly negotiated an hourly rate for his work as local counsel (all too often a high risk/low reward line of business), and further insisted that lead counsel be responsible for paying it ... actually, it's hard to imagine that anything relating to this epoch in Beck's career was done in a rational way.

I just look at the Houston firm's website. Not a word on there (that I could find) about their representation of crazy Mike. I've never heard of any of their lawyers except for Bernie Duco and I haven't been able to figure out why his name is familiar. As I think I've posted before, they are your generic Houston litigators, without apparent specialization in this kind of case.

Wonder how big a retainer and fee Alec J. Beck, MN State Bar No. 201133, is receiving from Michael J. Lindell? Is MyPillow paying what he'd earn as a partner at BT? Not to mention the severe dragging Beck is getting.

Any idea what the salary range is was for Beck?

Most of the reports have said that he was an equity partner, in other words, owner of some share of the firm. So he was getting annual partnership distributions from that, as well as getting some chance of appreciation for the value of the ownership stake over time. BT has about 700-750 lawyers, and depending on the percentage who are partners (let's say 100 to 150 are partners), he probably lost something like $500,000 to $1,000,000 per year in profit sharing on top of his direct salary. Reports said he was a partner since 2019, so he probably hadn't paid off the loan he took from the firm to buy his partnership stake (they don't give it to you outright). And that stake probably hadn't appreciated much in two years, so they bought it back from him for roughly what he paid for it.

But he's not going to cruise from BT to another similar Big Law firm and become a partner somewhere else in a year or two. He's going to be shoveling shit for the rest of his career as a marginal solo practitioner because of this brilliant move. He'll be lucky to have a practice defending drunk drivers and shoplifters because Google will remember this little disaster for the next 50 years and any law firm thinking of hiring him will come across it.

Wonder what his wife thinks of his brilliant career move. And what will his kids think when Daddy won't be able to pay for their private school next year?

Now, John, there is good money in Elder Law and someone has to defend DUI cases. Plus he can sign up to catch some public defender cash from the county, I hear it pays even better than fast food.

ETA: I totally came up with showing he was Saul Goodman without realizing I did it until I did.

My guess is one, assuming that "one" is My Pillow. And even then, how much work do they really have for a labor & employment law specialist?

My other thought was that he might be planning to hook up with some RWNJ think tank.

My guess is that he's had some kind of breakdown, (drugs? alcohol?) and somebody should put him on close welfare watch.

Excellent points, JPC. What a disaster for his family. But that's what you get for filing bullshit that tries to undermine democracy, no sympathy for Alec J. Beck.

On the bright side, maybe Alec J. Beck can start a new law firm with Trenton Garmon, Roy Moore's ex. Garmon & Beck has a nice ring to it.
