This is a fun map to see once in a while. Makes you realize how active our world really is. There have been 36 earthquakes in the past day ranging from 2.5 (69 km SE of Akhiok, Alaska) up to a 6.5 (Maug Islands region, Northern Mariana Islands).
We live on a fascinating planet.

Indonesia’s Mount Ruang has erupted at least three times this week, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of people. On Wednesday evening local time, the volcano’s eruption shot ash nearly 70,000 feet high, possibly spewing aerosols into the stratosphere, the atmosphere’s second layer.
The volcano is part of Indonesia’s North Sulawesi province, in the Sangihe Islands archipelago. That puts it about 60 miles north-northeast of Manado, the province’s capital.

Indonesia volcano eruption sparks tsunami fears
Mount Ruang has repeatedly erupted, and officials fear it could collapse and create a tsunami, with thousands being evacuated from the area
Staff and agencies in Jakarta
Wed 17 Apr 2024 20.36 CEST
Authorities in Indonesia have issued a tsunami alert after a volcano erupted five times in the province of North Sulawesi, spewing a column of smoke more than a mile into the sky and forcing the evacuation of thousands of people from their homes.
Mount Ruang, a stratovolcano, first erupted at 9.45pm local time on Tuesday and then four times on Wednesday, Indonesia’s volcanology agency said.
Officials worry that part of the volcano could collapse into the sea and cause a tsunami, as happened in 1871. Tagulandang island to the volcano’s north-east is again at risk.
The alert level for the volcano, which has a peak of 725 metres above sea level, was raised on Wednesday evening from three to four, the highest level in the four-tiered system.

Indonesia volcano eruption spreads ash to Malaysia and shuts airports
Ships evacuating 12,000 islanders over fears that side of Mount Ruang might slide into sea and cause tsunami
Agence France-Presse
Wed 1 May 2024 07.51 CEST
Eruptions at a remote Indonesian volcano have forced more than half a dozen airports to close with ash spreading as far as Malaysia, according to officials, while authorities rushed to evacuate thousands due to tsunami fears.
Mount Ruang erupted three times on Tuesday, spewing lava and ash more than 5km (three miles) into the sky and forcing authorities to issue evacuation orders for 12,000 people.
A rescue ship and a warship were dispatched to help move thousands from neighbouring Tagulandang island north to Siau island because of a warning about parts of the volcano falling into the sea, potentially causing a tsunami.

One of the most gripping news coverage of the eruption was a local photographer (KOMO I think) who was right in the blast zone, and at the time he didn't expect to come out, but he kept his camera going and speaking on what he was observing and experiencing.

The Papua New Guinea national disaster centre has said that Friday’s landslide in a remote village in the northern part of the country buried more than 2,000 people, and has formally asked for international help.
Unstable terrain, remote locations and damaged roads have been hampering relief efforts in the aftermath of the landslide, the United Nations said on Monday.
“The landslide buried more than 2,000 people alive and caused major destruction to buildings, food gardens and caused major impact on the economic lifeline of the country,” an official from the national disaster centre said in a letter to the UN, seen by Reuters and Associated Press.
